Find hotels in Chinintahua from £14

The best area to stay in Chinintahua is the historic centre, particularly around Parque Central and the streets immediately surrounding it.

The historic centre is the heart of Chinintahua, characterised by its historic architecture and cobblestone streets. Parque Central is the focal point, a bustling square often filled with local life, surrounded by the main cathedral and government buildings. Most of the town's quality restaurants, traditional craft shops, and local markets are within a short walk of this area.

Couples looking for a romantic and culturally rich experience will find the historic centre ideal. You'll be perfectly placed to explore the town's heritage, enjoy leisurely meals, and discover hidden courtyards, all within a compact and easily walkable area.

For those prioritising convenience and a slightly more contemporary feel, the area just north of the historic centre, along Avenida de la Cultura, offers a good balance. Here, you'll find modern amenities, including hotels with high-end fitness equipment and more spacious rooms, while still being a short stroll from the main attractions.

The best time to visit Chinintahua is during the dry season, which generally runs from June to September and December to February.

During these months, you'll experience less rainfall and clearer skies, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and exploring the natural beauty of the region. The drier conditions mean trails are more accessible and views of the surrounding mountains, including Chimborazo and Tungurahua, are often unobstructed. This period is particularly good for those looking to engage in adventure sports or extensive trekking.

The shoulder seasons, April to May and October to November, can also be a good time to visit. While there might be more occasional showers, the landscape is lush and green, and you'll often find fewer tourists. This can be a good option for travellers who prefer a more tranquil experience and don't mind a bit of unpredictable weather.
