About this property

Heron Landing | Remodeled Coastal Cottage, Walk/Bike to Memorial Park

  • Three words : Charming. Coastal. Cottage. Located just off of Ridge Road, in the center of the island, you'll find this adorable abode. 'Heron Landing' is newly remodeled. Downstairs you'll find an open floor plan with a fully equipped kitchen - with range, refrigerator, and dishwasher. A breakfast bar to enjoy a quick bite before you head to the beach. A comfortable and cozy living area with television. A half bath and washer and dryer can also be found downstairs for your convenience as well. A small porch with sliding door is located off of the living room, allowing you to crack open to let in the island breezes flowing over Assateague Channel. Upstairs you'll find the two bedrooms, both with queen beds. Beautiful, rustic, nautical themed decor. A full bath with tub/shower is also located upstairs as well. Enjoy your cup of coffee or cocktail on the cute patio area outside, or just to get a little extra island sunshine. Memorial Park is an easy walk or bike ride down the street, with a great pier for fishing and crabbing, tennis courts, and walking paths. And the newly opened Ridge Road Pit Stop (located at the old Mason Oil building) is close-by for snacks or a quick bite.

Heron Landing

Great: Location was awesome. Clean, tons of room, nice decor, comfy couches, TVs in all the rooms, quite area, plenty of places to plug in devices. Full-sized appliances. Good sized bathroom upstairs and downstairs bathroom is adequate (1/2 bath). Good: A/C works great downstairs - upstairs was not as cool. Parking is good in #6, but it's a little bit harder to get out. We backed in. A big truck would be tough. It has front and back doors, nice little front porch too, but in the summer with the bugs you can't really sit out there. Not Great: Disappointed we had to bring our own towels and sheets. For the price, we expect linens. (They do offer linens at an extra cost.) The toilet paper and paper towels were thin and don't tear at the perf which is just irritating. No tissues offered. The stairs are steep, so you have to be cautious while navigating them. Not a big deal for us, but it may be for others. The front door rubs hard against the floor when opening and closing which is a minor inconvenience especially when trying to escape the mosquitos - which there are a ton of on the island. Bring bug spray. We pay a cleaning fee so to be asked to clean up before leaving is unkind. Especially since they’re not doing linens. We of course take the trash out and clean the dishes, but the sweeping part is a bit of an insult for a hospitality company. I would still give the stay a "Very Good" rating because I like a lot of space, and a good location.
