The location is great; you can get anywhere quickly. The house is well furnished and spacious. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. ##### Baierl A. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good 12 Oct 2025 #### Beautiful spacious holiday home The Run is a beautiful spacious holiday cottage in a quiet rural location. Easy parking and nice little outside seating. We loved the layout of the cottage, very practical. The kitchen was very well equiped. Owner was very helpful. The cottage could perhaps do with a bit more decoration to make it feel more cozy. When it comes to cleanliness we don’t like finding leftovers from previous stays in cupboards and fridge. Compared to other cottages we stayed in in the past we feel like the cottage is overprized. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Hilary B. 16 Sept 2025 #### Excellent base for 30th wedding anniversary weekend The Run (and The Old Root House where other family members were staying) made a perfect base for our 30th wedding anniversary weekend in Lavant. It's set in a beautiful countryside location with wonderful views. We enjoyed walking and running to and along the Centurion Way. The cottage itself is well designed to a high spec - it is spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. We would return. It would be even better if we were able to take our dog but we understand that it's a working farm. ##### Hilary B. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Deryth W. 9 Jun 2024 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Weekend celebration Very clean and quiet location Property very good for 4 adults Lots of places close to visit including the coast ##### Deryth W. The facilities are top notch and the location is lovely. Close enough to Chichester to get in easily but good for walks. The only improvement I can suggest is access to wifi as internet coverage was patchy. ##### ELIZABETH H. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### Katy D. 24 Aug 2023 #### Brilliant location We had a relaxing few days here - easy access to the South Downs (can walk from the door) and the coast. Lovely barn conversion done to a high standard. ##### Katy D. It's quiet but easy driving access to Chichester, Goodwood and the surrounding areas. You can walk to a good pub or two and there's loads of longer walks to choose from as you are so close to the Centurion Way. The property is in a small steading of other (maybe 4 or 5) similar properties which are all very neat and well kept. Bedrooms are a good size, plenty of storage and comfy beds. Bathrooms modern with good showers. Good appliances in the kitchen which is well equipped too. Lounge is spacious. If you want a big TV this could be the only downside, as the TV is quite small compared to what I guess most people have at home. But we didn't watch any TV so no worries there. We were two couples that stayed and we have rebooked for next year. ##### LYNNE F. The space was large enough for us all with a decent sized kitchen space and comfortable bedrooms. The parking is plentiful and finding the place easy. entrance was also straight forward. The house was well equipped in the most part and there was plenty of items to help with meal prep etc. although we did feel a few extra kitchen items would have been useful to aid the stay, in particular and extra oven shelf as there is only one, we felt like there was one missing, and also there were no dishwasher tablets which was disappointing. The bedrooms were comfortable and having two separate bathrooms also beneficial with plenty of hot water. The sitting room was spacious and it was nice having the ease of access to the garden. The TV while not really for us but for the kids was an older design and would benefit from being upgraded. The location is great with easy access into Chichester and then into the South Downs. We enjoyed the stay and would recommend it. ##### Alex M. The property was very clean and all we could need was available in the property. Beds were very comfy and the house was lively and warm. Will certainly recommend. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent 29 Dec 2023 #### Lovely place for a stay in the area The house has been very sensitively converted from an old farm building, with nice exposed beams giving it a classic look. The interior is well-laid out, and very comfortable. The wood-burning stove was very welcome in the winter, when we were there. The owners were friendly, responsive and very helpful. The location, just outside Chichester, is ideal for anyone wanting to enjoy the countryside with easy access to shops. I would stay here again. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### Rob S. 15 May 2024 #### Could have been 5star Quiet location in a well appointed spacious countryside cottage. It’s a great location for easy access to Chichester and other coastal towns. Unfortunately on check in we found a number of areas and items that had not been well cleaned. In addition there were stains/marks on a number of the walls and the furniture covers were in dire need of a wash or dry clean. The dish washer was not working but the issue was resolved promptly by the landlord who was always available to assist in resolving issues. ##### Rob S. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Angela L. 5 Aug 2025 #### Great location very well equipped house in a lovely location - very spacious with great views and easy parking - we will be back ##### Angela L. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Shamit R. 25 Oct 2025 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy Lovely renovated barn. Great kitchen and living area. Cosy with underfloor heating throughout and a log fire. Easy check in with keysafe and directions. Well situated 10 mins away from Chichester. Royal Oak pub 20 min walk away was perfect for a pint and with great food. Good walks locally, recommend the Trundle with fantastic views. Only minor gripe was not enough matching glassware and crockery- but certainly did not detract from a super break ##### Shamit R. In the national park but only about 3 minutes to both Chichester and Goodwood. Highly recommended. ##### stephen w. There was nothing negative we could fault this cottage on - a really enjoyable week and we hope to come back next year. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent 12 Apr 2025 #### A memorable four-night stay Our only negative comment relates to crockery and cutlery: a mismatched assortment of tumblers and wine glasses; the variable condition of the crockery; a shortage of teaspoons and kitchen knives; the only teapot and jug were very big. This review was submitted before 2018 and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Margaret D. 7 Jun 2017 #### My stay from May 4th to the 12th i so enjoyed my stay clean and pristine accommodations .had a lovely time and the people were kind and friendly.Hope to return next year...Margie DePre ##### Margaret D. There are no stairs to climb and an excellent kitchen. It is a peaceful place for comming down and relax in the garden. The property was very clean and perfect prepared with all necessary things you need. ##### Kathrin P. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### beverley n. 19 Sept 2022 #### Cleanliness not up to expectation. Only scored 3 for cleanliness because the lounge suite covers are very grubby and smelly. Although the beds are extremely comfortable the duvets and pillows needed laundering as they had an odour about them. This was our second visit to The Run this year and we thought the above had deteriorated since then. We have said "No" to "Would you recommend this property to others" due to the comments above. Also, a basic welcome pack would be appreciated in such a rural setting, other self-catering properties we have used in recent years all seem to provide one. ##### beverley n. This review was submitted before 2018 and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### Debbie T. 28 May 2017 #### The Barn Fantastic but it would have helped to have an instruction sheet on how to use the washer/dryer, how to do the TV channels, where or what the wifi password is and a little more info on places to go and explore. We couldn't find any ice block trays either. We decided to go to the office in Chichester to find out these things but found out from the sales office that the holiday rental office was not even in Chichester so a lovely lady in sales tried to help by calling but got no response from the holiday rental office, she even rang emergency number with no response, finally after an hour someone called back, this woman was not even working but came to the barn to try and help us and it wasn't easy for her either but she finally got it so thanks to those two wonderfull ladies. ##### Debbie T. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Baierl A., München 18 Jun 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### West Lavant Barns Sehr gut eingerichtetes Haus in einer wunderschönen Umgebung. Sehr nette und freundliche Hausherren. ##### Baierl A. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent 7 Apr 2022 #### Excellent They say you can't have it all but arguably at The Run, you can. Located in a quiet rural idyll but within easy reach of Chichester either by car, bike or on foot the property is spacious and well equipped with everything you could need in a home from home. You also have the coast and local attractions like Goodwood and the Weald & Downland museum nearby. We stayed here for weeks and didn't want to leave. Walking up the trundle/St Roche's Hill is a must (you can always drive to the car park if you don't fancy the walk) as you get an amazing panorama (from the trig point especially) stretching for miles. The trundle even features a mobile coffee van at the top (excellent brownies) and the wonderful Royal Oak pub near the bottom. The landlords are nearby and were friendly, helpful and welcoming, we couldn't have asked for more. For anyone planning a working holiday I found the internet to be fast enough for my needs in that regard at around 23mbps download speed. We can't recommend this property highly enough and Henry Adams were always very helpful when we had a question. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### Stephen E. 4 Oct 2021 #### Great stay Good location for visiting area including coast. Owner called to check all was well and informed us of local attractions. A very pleasant stay. ##### Stephen E. Accommodation was excellent with well stocked kitchen for self-catering. Location was ideal for exploring the South Downs area, Chichester and the coast. Plenty of things to see and do. Great for walking, biking, beach and general sightseeing. Will definitely visit again. ## Expedia's Latest Trends ### Hotels > [Crafted at Powdermills](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Battle-Hotels-Powdermills-Country-House-Hotel.h195688.Hotel-Information) > > [Chimney House Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Sandbach-Hotels-Chimney-House-Hotel.h527768.Hotel-Information) > > [Mermaid, Ipswich by Marston's Inns](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Ipswich-Hotels-Mermaid.h31883430.Hotel-Information) > > [Lock Keeper, Worksop by Marston's Inns](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Worksop-Hotels-Lock-Keeper.h27479298.Hotel-Information) > > [The Stables Whitby](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Whitby-Hotels-The-Stables-Whitby.h23322490.Hotel-Information) > > [Samsara Retreat and Yoga - Adults Only](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Maidstone-Hotels-Samsara-Retreat-And-Yoga.h41349775.Hotel-Information) > > [Cromer Country Club](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Cromer-Hotels-Cromer-Country-Club.h1927781.Hotel-Information) > > [The Skipton Hotel - Formerly Hotel Rendezvous](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Skipton-Hotels-Hotel-Rendezvous.h41466.Hotel-Information) > > [voco Lythe Hill Hotel & Spa by IHG](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Haslemere-Hotels-Voco-Lythe-Hill-Hotel-Spa.h517258.Hotel-Information) > > [Hampton by Hilton Canterbury](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Canterbury-Hotels-Hampton-Inn-Canterbury.h66541221.Hotel-Information) > > [Wild Rose Caravan Park](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Appleby-In-Westmorland-Hotels-Wild-Rose-Caravan-Park.h24459296.Hotel-Information) > > [Skegness The Royal Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Skegness-Hotels-The-Royal-Hotel-Skegness.h23931999.Hotel-Information) > > [Soar Mill Cove Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Salcombe-Hotels-Soar-Mill-Cove-Hotel.h2042032.Hotel-Information) > > [Seven Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Southend-On-Sea-Hotels-Seven-Hotel.h19282555.Hotel-Information) > > [Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa - an Iconic Luxury Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/New-Milton-Hotels-Chewton-Glen-Hotel-Spa.h528432.Hotel-Information) > > [OYO Shanklin Beach Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Shanklin-Hotels-OYO-Shanklin-Beach-Hotel.h7539838.Hotel-Information) > > [Bear Lodge - At Port Lympne Reserve](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hythe-Hotels-Bear-Lodge-Aspinall-Foundation.h40101484.Hotel-Information) > > [Pinewood Camping Pods - At Port Lympne Reserve](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hythe-Hotels-Pinewood-Apinall-Foundation.h40101599.Hotel-Information) > > [Sandman Signature Sheffield Quays Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Sheffield-Hotels-The-Quays-Hotel-Sheffield.h46197620.Hotel-Information) > > [The Swan Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Wells-Hotels-The-Swan-Hotel.h26791.Hotel-Information) > > [The Aviator, formerly Smugglers Cove, Clacton On Sea by Marston's Inns](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Clacton-On-Sea-Hotels-Smugglers-Cove-By-Marstons-Inns.h35853904.Hotel-Information) > > [Yeoldon House](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Bideford-Hotels-Yeoldon-House.h2764122.Hotel-Information) > > [Brock Cottage private Hot Tub DOG/Cat FRIENDLY\* with on site fishing](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Pickering-Hotels-Spacious-Stone-Cottage-DOG-FRIENDLY.h36805890.Hotel-Information) > > [DoubleTree by Hilton London Elstree](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Borehamwood-Hotels-DoubleTree-By-Hilton-London-Elstree.h18549.Hotel-Information) > > [Exeter Rougemont hotel by Sunday](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Exeter-Hotels-Exeter-Rougemont-Hotel-By-Sunday.h7784.Hotel-Information) > > [Crow Wood Hotel & Spa Resort](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Burnley-Hotels-Crowwood-Hotel-Spa-Resort.h38222710.Hotel-Information) > > [voco Leicester by IHG](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Leicester-Hotels-Voco-Leicester.h76596043.Hotel-Information) > > [Canterbury Bell, Margate by Marston's Inns](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Broadstairs-Hotels-Canterbury-Bell.h33103125.Hotel-Information) > > [Wild Thyme & Honey](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Cirencester-Hotels-Wild-Thyme-Honey.h9241983.Hotel-Information) ---
