I whole heartedly agree... with a big buuuuut. Oasis in the city, due to swimming pool, friendly helpful staff and prime location, but the hotel itself is quite run down and in need of a bit of modernisation, the worst bring the bathrooms, which were both run down and really unclean. The bedroom was a mosquito murder scene, with months of splats clueing me in to the fact I'd spend my stay wondering how so many got in to the room (cover all the bathroom drains!). The fact that the hotel has painted over some marks in the wall with a slightly different white that the rest of the room only serves to add to the run down effect. That being said, for €19, the pool was a godsend, you're close to both weekend markets, it's a very quiet, safe location and the staff were so helpful and friendly. Good pool. Friendly staff. Great price. great wifi. Key for your room so you can charge devices while out. If cleanliness is intrinsic to your stay don't come. 2 doors down bicycle hire 50 baht/day. Baan bakery, yummy, down the road. Further north, local markets, fried rice 10baht, little bag sweet potatoes 10 baht. Can hear people in corridor and dogs barking. Stayed 18 nights. I was able to find the guesthouse down a quiet street fairly easily, and our reservation thru Expedia was recognized without issues. There is a pool, rooms were average, but clean and fairly quiet. The location is good, within walking distance to Chiang Mai gate and the night food market there.
