International travelers from all continents use English as a travel language. Breakfast good, staff nice. TV had only one English channel, the Chinese news network. Mostly good. Metro a long walk, as was Tianfu Square. Used many taxis. Fortunately cheap, as was food. Not too much around, and required walking up a very high overpass to get to other streets, the bank or other stores. One great feature was free washer dryer use, rare in hotels. No safe or refrigerator in room, but they provided a free fridge. Also, though a good sized room, no dresser drawers and yet there was space for one. Had small gym with very little equipment. Room is super huge, as it is a minimalist hotel. Location of room assigned on first night was bad, very noisy with vehicles passing till morning, could not sleep. Requested a quieter facing room for my next stay, not that bad then, face some eateries. Breakfast spread is great, many choices local fare, warm drinks, suit me a lot. We ended up walking around in 30 degree heat, with 20kg rucksacks to a different hotel that was in the location on the map, where we were able to work out where to go in broken English. Not a great start. When we eventually made it to the hotel Susan was wonderful and gave us a 5\* check in experience. She is a real credit to the brand and will be working in a 5\* hotel soon, I’m certain! The check in was great, with an IHG welcome! She helped us to book a taxi for a trip we had the following day and couldn’t have done more for us. The room itself is old, tired and in need of spending to bring it up to standard again. The bed was huge and very comfortable; but the room whilst being big, had no wardrobe, just a hanging rail- I get to save costs in construction, but it made no sense and is just cheap. The shower silicon is mouldy, the shower mat is mouldy, the bathroom sink was scratched, just not up to standard.
