From the Cotswold stone arches to the Jacobian wooden panelling adorning the walls, every detail has been thoughtfully hand picked by a renowned interior design team to combine these beautiful features with modern luxuries. The spacious living area offers a wonderful haven to relax in front of the cosy fire or enjoy a game at the checkers table. This space boasts high vaulted ceilings wth skylights, allowing the natural light to flow. There is also a private balcony which is perfect for catching the evening sun, and a sought after assigned parking space in a central location in Stow-on-the-Wold. Gisleburtus House oozes sophisticated elegance, ideal for couples or small families! Accommodation This two bedroom holiday apartment is excellently situated for exploring Stow-on-the-Wold on foot, with its many eateries and boutique shops. This is a traditional fair for gypsies and travelling people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted. Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. Also well placed to explore other areas of the Costwold's Very spacious property Nice size car park with parking permit Friendly neighbours who helped when the water went off and also put our bin out for us. Very soft towels, bedding and dressing gown provided. Comfy pillows! Cons: Cleanliness could be improved - there were some areas of dust and lack of attention to detail. When we removed the bag to put the bin out, there was dirt and rubbish in the bottom of the bin. The property didn't quite live up to expectations based on images - images portray a more luxurious and airy vibe. Limited cleaning products/ items provided. For example there was no cloth or sponge so we weren't able to wipe down surfaces. There was just a bristle brush to wash up with, which was ineffective at cleaning dishes well. Property was listed as having children's crockery and plates but we could not find this. The property has an eerie feel, much darker than depicted but appreciate our stay was in November. Waking up to snow on first day was so Christmassy and whole week was perfect for our Christmas shopping break. The Sheep, Porch House, The Bell, Stow Lodge Hotel and The Queens all great for food or a drink and Stow is so central, making it the perfect base. From start to finish the company could not have been more helpful. The accommodation was superb and we could not find fault with anything. Lovely and quiet despite being off the main road through Stow. A perfect location for mooching around Stow’s lovely shops. Don’t miss out on the excellent bargains in Stow’s charity shops - really good quality stuff! The Stag’s bar was perfect for a few hours of cribbage with G&T’s whilst the rain came down. As we opened the door we were amazed by the shear size of the property and beautiful decor throughout. We were sceptical about staying in an Apartment rather than the traditional chocolate box Cottage, although I can definitely say this place did not disappoint! Beautifully decorated apartment keeping the traditional aspects but modern at the same time. We had everything we needed in the apartment. We loved playing cards at the games table one night. As a couple with our son and his partner having an en-suite each was invaluable. I do like a visitors book though, usually get lots of information from other guests. Although within easy walking reach of all shops and restaurants it is tucked away in a quiet courtyard, so makes for a very peaceful stay. There were just two of us in the apartment, but the second bedroom was also a good size, and would have easily accommodated a second couple. With oak panelling, interesting pictures and a log burner (bioethanol fired) it is full of character and a lovely place to curl up on the comfy sofas in the evening after a long day of exploring. Spacious bathrooms with showers and bath. The apartment was spotlessly clean and the Staycotswold staff very helpful (their office is just around the corner, if you need help or advice). Stow is well situated to visit many of the pretty Cotswold villages and only about half an hour’s drive to Blenheim Palace, which is well worth the journey. Lots of good places to eat in Stow as well as many shops and galleries to browse.
