Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a seamless experience if you're well prepared. Take a peek at these handy travel tips that will help get your Thetis Island escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:

• A plane trip can be easy if you bring the right gear. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare pair of socks and a few magazines. Secondly, make room in your carry-on bag for your electronic devices, chargers, medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel docs and your bank cards.

Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:

• Check carefully that you don't have a pocket knife hiding in your carry-on luggage. Other prohibited items include flammable or explosive substances, such as aerosol cans and bleach, and gels and liquids in containers larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).

What to wear on a flight:

• Your priority is to feel as comfortable as you can. Pick shoes that are easy to pull on and off, dress in loose, breathable clothing and remember to bring a jacket in case you get chilly in the cabin.
• Caused by lengthy periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot condition that can affect passengers during long-haul flights. Lower your risks by staying hydrated, keeping your lower limbs moving and wearing compression socks or tights.

Being organised before your flight can make your trip to Thetis Island easy and painless. Here are some handy hints for a stress-free journey past security:

• First things first. Your travel documents and ID will need to be inspected by airport security personnel. Keep them at hand so you don't hold up the queue.
• Time to strip down. Well kind of. Your jacket, belt, keys and other contents of your pockets, like your headphones, will be required to go through the X-ray machine. Make the whole process faster by removing them as your turn draws near.
• Your electronic gadgets like phones and laptops will also need to go on a tray to be scanned. Don't worry, you'll be back online soon enough.
• Remove gels and liquids from your carry-on luggage. They usually need to be sent through the X-ray machine separately. Each product should be in a container no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) and everything must fit in a single quart-size (one litre), clear zip-lock bag.
• Lightweight sneakers are a practical footwear choice as you're less likely to be required to remove them when passing through security. Safety boots and other heavy-style shoes are often subjected to extra screening.
• Sharp or pointed objects (like knives and scissors) can't be taken on board. They'll be seized at security, so pack them safely away in your checked bags.
