Chaumont-en-Vexin Holidays from £199

You could tell from the entrance that the cleaning standards were low. The floor looked dirty. The reception WC was like a public toilet. Mirror cover with water spots, hair, and the toilet had toilet papers on the floor. Entering the room, I was shocked by the level of dust and poor cleaning. Dust everywhere, the mirror had spots, the window fingerprints, the headboard looked filthy, etc. *I have pictures. The room we stayed in on the 4th floor was boiling hot, and we couldn't sleep for four days straight. I have a small kid, so we asked for a second fan, but nothing changed. The AC was down and somehow only worked in the reception and one suite. They never changed our towels, even though we asked, due to the heat, we showered three times a day. They never cleaned anything in the room aside from making beds and emptying bins. The floor looked like it had not been mopped. The small balcony resembled an abandoned house, with a tray full of cigarettes. The terrace was a nice spot to relax but was not tidy or properly cleaned, suggesting neglect. The only room that seemed clean was the breakfast room. Honestly, I wonder what kind of manager doesn't regularly check to ensure basic hygiene standards. My brother stayed in another room with his family, and it was also dirty. Sorry to say, but if you have kids, this place is not suitable. For the amount we spend, it was simply not worth it at all!

We were only staying in Paris for a night and if that is your plan then this hotel will be fine. Overall, the beds were comfortable (albeit slightly too soft for our liking) and we slept well. The triple room we were given was more like a double which they had squeezed a third bed into, so I would book two rooms if there is three of you. Apart from that, no other issues - central-ish location for Montmartre (about a 10/15 minute walk to main Montmartre), and very close to the Metro and Gare du Nord station so a good spot to visit other part of the city / region if you want to stay here for longer.

This place is a hidden gem. The staff was incredible right out of the gate going above what is required of them. Sandeep is the most helpful person I’ve ever interacted with in a hotel. The room had enough space and the bathroom was good. They even had air conditioning in both rooms that worked so well once i figured out how to work it! The location is incredible. It’s central to everything and has a lot of restaurants and shopping around it. The only negatives are that my bed was a bit stiff and there isn’t an elevator making a 3rd floor stay tough for people with bad knees. The staff cleans the room every day and brings new towels and makes the bed daily. There was never a time that I walked by the lobby that the staff didn’t acknowledge me and either greet me or ask me if they could do anything for me. The price is so good for the value you get from it. I’ll absolutely be staying here for future visits in Paris!
