Château de Blandy-les-Tours is a medieval castle featuring cylindrical towers with pointed turrets. It stands in a gorgeous set of grounds with views of the pastoral terrain of the village of Blandy. Make your way through the impressive structure and learn how it began to transform from a manor house into today’s fortified castle during the Hundred Years’ War. If you’re feeling hungry, head down the narrow twisting lanes connecting the fortress to the charming village for its restaurants and traditional bakeries. Download the village audio guide from the castle website for a greater sense of the area’s history. Note that the castle fell into disrepair over the years, before being renovated in 1992\. It is open to the public daily from morning until late afternoon. In winter, it closes for an hour at noon. There is a fee to enter. Admission is free for students and those under 17. Find Château de Blandy-les-Tours in the center of the village of Blandy. Drive east from Melun for 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) to get here in roughly 15 minutes.
