It is one of only two towers remaining to date (second one is the Rabenštejnská tower). It was built in 14th century and its current design is from 1612. The entrance from the embarkment is dated only from 19th century. The name of Iron Maiden originates from a legend saying the same torture machine was in there. It should be added that Iron Maiden as a sophisticated torturing machine, usually portraied as a wooden man shaped sarcophagus with sharp spikes or knives inside, is probably a historical hoax and it was actually not used very much.
