Beautiful property, outstanding location for quiet get-away (recommend staying in warmer weather!)
For anyone wanting to stay in a beautiful location with outstanding views in every direction, you couldn’t ask for more. The outdoor seating is thoughtfully arranged to include a large table placed under a pergola with views over the vineyards and olive groves below. We were expecting the rental to be for the house, which has four bedrooms, but the price we were given is for double occupancy, so there was a small additional charge for single occupancy as we each wanted our own room. Our visit was planned to enjoy the warm May sunshine – and we had packed accordingly. Unfortunately, we encountered the coldest May (we were told) since1958. The house is not set up for comfort in cold weather. The indoor temperature did not get above 15 degrees C (59 degrees F) – and was for a number of days even colder. There is a pellet heater in the hall, which takes some of the chill out of the air in the early morning or evening, but the heat does not reach the bedrooms (as noted on the confirmation email you pay for the pellets you use). We used the fireplace in the kitchen a couple of times, but on a windy evening smoke was driven by the wind into the kitchen, so we had to open doors and windows to clear the room (removing any possible heat added to the room by the fire). We bought hot water bottles from the local Coop to warm up the beds on cold nights. Cristina and Andrea were very responsive to our communication and after having trouble locating the property (a problem with GPS), we met Cristina at the train station. The the kitchen is well supplied with pots, pans, cutlery and dishes, however there are no basic supplies, so plan to bring your own salt, pepper, olive oil, etc. Also, no oven or gas/electric grill. A caution for anyone with mobility concerns – the stairs down to the bathroom have no railing and are uneven (as one might expect in an old farmhouse). We had a wonderful, relaxing stay and enjoyed exploring the many beautiful villages and towns nearby. Walks on the dirt roads leading from the property were an enjoyable pastime and the views in every direction spectacular! Local markets and shops provided outstanding vegetables, fruits, cheeses, olive oil, Chianti… we already miss the beautiful fresh flavours of Tuscany. Thank you Andrea and Cristine for your welcome and for sharing your family’s farmhouse.

We loved our stay! It was beautiful, clean, excellent communication, the setting was amazing!
The walks around a the property were so gorgeous and it was so quiet. Easy to travel to other areas with a car. Hosts were very helpful and quick to get back with any questions we had. I would highly recommend this place for a big family or a group to enjoy a lovely Tuscan getaway.

An amazingly beautiful and most comfortable home with spectacular views of the Tuscan countryside!
We enjoyed every minute at Casale Lancialberti. The home was spacious and well-equipped with all the conveniences needed for a comfortable stay. The outdoor seating areas were fabulous for a relaxing day of reading or watching the sunset with a glass of wine. The location was convenient to the train station (for day trips to Siena or Florence) and for car trips to other beautiful small towns. Andrea and Christina were gracious hosts, providing us with phone and e-mail contacts should we have any questions or problems (of which we had none).

Tuscany farmhouse with stunning surroundings
This would be a 5 star review with some minor changes. Spacious farmhouse with stunning surroundings in excellent location for exploring all of Tuscany. Easily accommodated 6 adults with room for more (beds for 8).Loved near by Certaldo with easy access to train station. Unfortunately the weather was unusually cold and this large stone farmhouse has inadequate heating...space heaters for the bedrooms would have easily solved the problem..hallway heat pump unit was unable to warm up the bedrooms.Cozy kitchen with large fireplace was wonderful. Hot water tank too small for 6 adults to shower comfortably. Andrea and Christina our hosts were delightful and very accommodating. Communication prior to our visit was easy and timely. During our stay quite attentive to our needs.Would highly recommend this property..would be PERFECT in the summertime.

Beautiful setting, perfect house
We stayed in this marvelous hilltop house for a week with our 4 adult children. The very old, classic home has been in the owners' family for generations. It is roomy and comfortable (holds 8 adults easily), with shaded gardens that have views of both sunrise and sunset and plenty of room for reading, napping, or tossing a frisbee; there's also a charcoal grill, as well as an arbored outdoor table where we ate most of our meals. The surrounding fields are working vineyards and olive groves. The well-appointed kitchen, which we stocked with frequent visits to the huge Coop-Fi store in Certaldo, kept us happily fed. A dishwasher and a washing machine are huge plusses. It is a private house--there are no other guests--so you will be listening only to the frogs, the crickets, the occasional dog, and a little distant traffic. It's within easy day-trip distance of San Gimignano, Volterra, Florence, Siena, Pisa, Lucca, and the beach. If you are only a little more ambitious, you can also take day trips to Bologna or Orvieto. Note that the internal stairs might make it a bad choice for people with limited mobility or for toddlers, but it is a safe and pleasant setting for even children of preschool age. Finally, Andrea and Cristina are wonderfully friendly and helpful. Ask them to give you a peek inside the 1000-year-old chapel around which the house is built! If you are looking for luxury, this is not your house. But if you are looking for a classic, comfortable, roomy, well-cared-for, beautifully set house near most of Tuscany's most famous cities, you will love it! The week we spent there was the centerpiece of our vacation.
