![Ceaulmont (Indre). Parfois la commune est appelée Ceaulmont-les-Granges. Château de la Prune-au-Pot . Ce château féodal du XIIème - XIIIème siècle doit son nom à la famille Pot* qui en fut propriétaire jusqu’en 1484. Sans réelle vocation militaire, son rôle fut d’avantage d’être le centre d’exploitation du patrimoine foncier environnant. La forteresse de la Prune est située à flanc d’un coteau en pente douce, sans intérêt stratégique particulier. La Prune est construite sur la rive gauche de la Creuse, en vis-à-vis des domaines appartenant à la large mouvance des seigneurs de Déols. Ce château pourrait avoir des origines plus aquitaines que berrichonnes. La Prune-au-Pot se présente sous l’aspect d’un beau château fort ruiné organisé sur un plan quadrangulaire. Trois des quatre tours initiales sont encore visibles. L'ensemble de la fortification forme une cour carrée close d'un mur couronné de mâchicoulis. Il enserre une tour carrée et deux tours rondes. La poterne est percée d'une grande porte ogivale et d'une petite carrée, chacune ayant son pont-levis. La plus grosse des tours est l'ancien donjon, avec escalier desservant tous les étages. En entrant se trouve une cave voûtée avec fontaine. Au premier, la salle hexagonale comporte des latrines. La tour rectangulaire, dite tour Colin, comporte un escalier logé dans une tourelle accolée semi-hexagonale. Entre la tour de la Fontaine et la tour Colin, la maison du métayer est moderne. Ce château rural des XIIe et XIIIe siècles, conserve des cheminées monumentales, des escaliers en vis et des gargouilles sculptées. Les fossés humides se remplissaient par ruissellement et par porosité de la nappe phréatique. On note un intéressant système d’accès par pont-levis reposant sur des piliers encore visibles. Une fontaine située dans la cave de la plus grande tour fournissait aux occupants une eau toujours abondante. La Tour de la Fontaine tient son nom de la source qu’elle abrite. Une légende raconte qu’autrefois les jeunes filles du village demandaient au seigneur l’autorisation de venir s’y mirer afin d’y découvrir le visage de leur promis dans les reflets de l’eau… L’histoire ancienne du site est sujette à conjectures. Si la tranche chronologique couvrant une période allant de la Guerre de 100 ans à l’ancien régime est bien renseignée grâce à une documentation suffisante, la période féodale est moins bavarde. Cette seigneurie est passée dans la famille Pot, en 1292. Plusieurs générations vont alors se succéder comme seigneurs de la Prune. En 1484, c'est la famille de Montmorency qui en devient propriétaire, par le mariage d'Anne Pot avec Guillaume de Montmorency. En 1589, le château accueille Henri IV, venu assiéger la cité d'Argenton. Le Grand Sully va ensuite l'acquérir, puis Henri de Bourbon, prince de Condé, qui rachète tout le Bas-Berry pour en faire le duché-pairie de Châteauroux, vendu en 1736 à Louis XV. En 1756, c'est la famille Gentil de Villarnoux qui en devient propriétaire. Cet édifice aurait accueilli Henri IV pendant trois jours durant les guerres de religions et le siège d’Argenton en 1589. La terre fut sequestrée après la Révolution. Le château semblait encore en bon état du temps de George Sand : "On a fait un nouveau pont [sur la Creuse], qui sera emporté comme celui que nous passions autrefois pour aller à la Prune-au-Pot, un vieux manoir qui a eu l'honneur d'héberger Henri IV, et qui est très bien conservé?" (Promenades autour d'un village: suivies de, Le Berry - Par George Sand -pp 65 - 66) La Prune-au-Pot est une propriété privée. Le propriétaire a accepté qu’un chemin de visite soit aménagé autour de son bien, pour faciliter l’accès du public. Cette bonne volonté n’est pas la règle, soyez donc vigilants à ne pas passer les clôtures. L'actuel propriétaire, M. Claude Aguttes, commissaire-priseur à Paris, l'a acquis voici quelques années dans un piteux état. M. Claude Aguttes,après avoir restauré le château de Tournoël (Puy-de-Dôme), veut sauver et mettre en valeur La Prune-au-Pot. La Famille Pot serait originaire du Limousin, on trouve un Guillaume 1er Pot (+ après 1220) seigneur de Champroy¤. Raoul 1er Pot (+ après 1298) fut seigneur de La Prugne-au-Pot. Il épousa (~1290/92) Radegonde de La Failhe (fille de Guillaume, seigneur de La Prugne et Piégut, et de Limosine de Breuil. Guillaume II Pot (+1390) chevalier, fut seigneur de La Prugne. Il épousa en premières noces (~1330/35) Blanche de La Trémoïlle, fille de Gui IV et d’Alix de Vouhet. En secondes noces (~1340/45) Marguerite de Magnac, fille d’Eudes ou Odon, seigneur de L’Age-Bernard-de-Fer (Montchevrier, 36), et de Séguine de Cluys, dame de Charon (Maillet, 36). La branche bourguignonne, dite branche de la Prugne, servit les ducs de Bourgogne du milieu du 15e siècle jusqu'à la mort du dernier duc Charles le Téméraire en 1477, puis passa au service de Louis XI. Anne Pot, dernière représentante de la branche de la Prugne, épousa Guillaume de Montmorency : "Hault et puissant seigneur Guillaume sire de Montmorancy, grand baron de France, et damoiselle Anne Pot, sa femme, à cause d’elle, tiennent en fief du seigneur de Gargilesse et en arrière fief du Roy, la terre et seigneurie de la Preugne au Pot qui est la place fort à cause duquel lieu de la Preulle au Pot ilz ont 4 membres deppendans d’icelle, seront tenuz en fiefs de la dame de Chauvigny à cause des terres et seigneuries de la chastellenie de Sainct Chartier, et des seigneurs des terres et seigneuries de la Charost Saint Chartier et des terres et seigneuries de Thevé, Cluys Dessus et Argenton, à cause duquel le lieu de la Preugne au Pot membres deppendant d’icelle, vers 1500 "(A.D. 18-C 815, fol. 369). ¤Champroy : Ancienne commune de la Creuse, la commune de Champroy a été supprimée par l'ordonnance du 14 mai 1837. Le bourg fut rattaché à la commune de Saint-Dizier-Leyrenne ainsi que le village des Jarges. "I have stayed at this hotel several times and I have never found a speck of dust or a marked or unclean surface. I have always enjoyed a good undisturbed sleep. The staff are very helpful and even uncorked some wine for me. Its location is fantastic, just off the n20/a20\. Free parking and free strong Wi-Fi. It is next to a retail park , cheap fuel available at carrefour. There are several fast food restaurants nearby. It’s a real bargain "
