Excellent communication with the property manager but several glitches as described below
We booked six days in this villa above Lake Garda for my delayed 70th birthday party with family, plus others staying at the adjacent Villa Cordevigo Wine Relais and Spa.
The positives were:
1. Excellent communication from Suzanne, the property manager.
2. Excellent private quiet and secure location with sweeping view over Lake Garda.
3. Excellent layout of the house with four large double bedrooms, two en-suite, and one Jack-and-Jill.
4. Good furnishings and copious excellent high-end supplies.
5. Excellent washing and drying facilities.
6. Huge TV in the living room.
The negatives were:
1. The pool, which was meant to be finished at the end of April, was far from being finished as we arrived in June, with ugly orange plastic fencing surrounding the hole in the ground. Suzanne gave us a week’s advanced notice, was very apologetic and granted us a generous discount, but it severely impacted our enjoyment of the property.
2. Upon our arrival there were a lot of flies in the house, which freaked out our Hong Kong-based grandchildren. We purchased fly swats, which helped a little.
3. Upon our arrival, the air conditioning wasn’t functioning properly. Suzanne arranged for it to be fixed the next morning, Sunday, but we needed to buy a fan for one of the back bedrooms to supplement the A/C and didn’t dare touch the controls.
4. Upon our arrival there was a strong smell of manure on the lawns, such that we couldn’t sit outside. This dissipated after a couple of days.
5. The outdoor long dining tables are in serious need of replacement, as Suzanne knows.
6. Parquet floors in the living room area are in serious need of refinishing.
7. The Wi-fi is rather week, as Suzanne had warned us. We purchased a Wi-fi extender which helped a little.
We recommend that future renters check with Suzanne, the property manager, that these issues have been largely resolved before committing to a rental.
