The Villa has been crafted and lovingly restored and once used as a family home among the estate. Now it is provided with a private pool and garden with views of the immaculate woods all around. The villa has extensive outdoor spaces, perfect for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. A large porch/veranda with a dining area has commanding views of the landscape, as do the Pool. Baby equipment like a crib and high chair welcomes even the youngest visitors. Tucked into the rolling hills outside the hamlet of Orentano, the four-bedroom home has a prime location near Lucca, Pisa, San Miniato, San Gimignano, Florence, Siena, Cinque Terre, Montecatini, Pistoia and Volterra -all between a 15 and 60 mins drive away- while 25-minute drive brings you to Pisa Airport. A bar, a few restaurants, a grocery store, and two pizza restaurants are located in the hamlet of Orentano, walking distance from the villa (2.5 kms away) while the major town of Altopascio with a huge number of shops, restaurants, supermarkets, groceries, bakeries featuring the famous local ‘Altopascio bread’ made there since the 1100s, bars, pizzerias, ice cream shops etc is available in less than a 10 mins drive from the Villa. This region of Tuscany offers countless opportunities to experience the long and diverse local history, start-ing from he bespoke Lucca, with the best preserved Amphitheatre in the Roman world, to Pisa, San Miniato and Montecatini Terme all between a 20 to a 30 mins drive away. Florence, San Gimignano, and Cinque Terre -five mirage-like villages built on a series of shores, also makes a fabulous historical site to visit during your stay- are all approx a 1 hour drive away. Pistoia, Volterra, Siena, Bolgheri, Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi, Garfagnana, Valdinievole and the Versilia Coast are all in an endless distance. The house is beautifully furnished with antique furniture, artwork and plants in a way that celebrates the charm of the home. The large kitchen was equipped with everything we needed and we enjoyed bringing Tuscan delights back to the house to make meals together. The grounds are lovely and the bravest amongst us enjoyed a dip in the pool in April! All the bedrooms were comfortable and we all slept very peacefully in this quiet, rural setting. The location is great. There are walks through the woodlands directly from the property. There's a small village a short drive away with cafe and restaurant and then a town about 10-15 minutes away that has everything you need. We really loved how easy it was to make day trips to Lucca, Cinque Terre and small hilltop towns. The host was very responsive and really wanted to make sure we had a good stay. A slice of heaven tucked away in Tuscany. The host was fantastic. Very responsive and we arranged for her to cook for us one night and had a wine tasting alongside. Lucca is about half an hour drive away. Filippo was extremely helpful and even managed to fix the wi-fi very quickly, as it was down when we arrived due to weather. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again when in the area. The property manager, Filipino, was very responsive and helpful. Property was large and very private. Small village of Orentano was a 10 minutes away for groceries. Florence was about 1.5 hours away. We hired a private chef for two nights (through Arianna and Friends) and they were excellent. I would highly recommend them. We rented the villa with our son, daughter-in-law and their two small children. THey enjoyed the stay as well. The hosts are wonderful people, very kind and knowledgeable, were greeted with a bottle of wine from their own winery! Loved Drago, big beautiful dog…and Menoo the kitty! We felt the house was a bit isolated, a little too far to walk into Orentano. Road in was a bit rough but no problem for SUV’s etc. However, with that said, the house was in a beautiful serene setting with a nice firefly display at night! We thoroughly enjoyed! We really enjoyed ourselves for 5 days, mixing day trips to nearby towns (Lucca was great!) and beaches with days by the pool in the garden. Perfect for us - 6 adults of 70-35 years and three kids of 1-5 years. The owner, Severio, turned up quite late at night and stayed at his apartment in another end of the house for one night, I assume just to check out who we were. Didn’t disturb us - he was really nice, told us about the house and it’s surroundings and welcomed us with a bottle of wine. All in all a very pleasant stay that perfectly matched our expectations, a lot thanks to the host’s thorough and correct descriptions of the house.
