About this property
Chic Modern Mountain Cabin 220 ft of Waterfront, Dock, AC, Sleeps 12
Nestled in the Fenley Forest on Lake Glenville, this 2,400 sf modern waterfront cabin was remodeled top to bottom in 2019. Literally everything is brand new! Including the roof, wood flooring, skylights, windows, sliding doors, bathrooms, kitchen, appliances, mattresses, 4 computer ready big screen tvs, dual zone central air and heat, and furniture! It was designed to appeal to those with an eye for modern minimalism. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs, each with a queen size bed. Super comfy Tuft & Needle memory foam mattresses throughout! Rated 4.6/5 stars for comfort by 27,125 people. Each bedroom has a skylight to capture the tree tops of Fenley Forest by day and an array of stars by night. The en suite master bedroom has a floating bed in the center of the room to maximize the breathtaking lake views. The other 2 bedrooms share a bathroom with a reclaimed barn wood vanity, matte black fixtures and graphic cement tiles. The great room has a commanding view of the lake and an impressive stone wood burning fireplace. It has an open floor plan living room, dining room and kitchen. The living area has 2 extra large black leather tufted sofas from CB2. In the open kitchen, there is a custom 5ft x 10ft island made by a local craftsman with seating for 12 people. The waterfall counter tops are made of recycled tin roofing material and each nail head was hammered by hand. The facade is a unique reclaimed wood design. The cook top is at the end of the island so cooking while entertaining becomes effortless! The kitchen has brand new stainless appliances and open shelving with well appointed glassware, dishware and flatware. There is brand new recessed lighting as well as new skylights throughout the house so it is always bright and cheery. The glass front door allows the sunshine to pour in and reveals a giant granite mountain face. The keyless Schlage smart lock allows for easy check in, entry and exit by all house guests using an assigned code. There are 2 levels of patio space for outdoor seating and dining. The downstairs level has equally breathtaking views with sliding doors to provide the best possible lake views. There is a ping pong table, a game table, 2 computer ready tvs, a retro wood burning oven flanked by 2 black leather mid century modern sofas, a kitchenette with mini fridge, sink, and microwave, a bathroom with an original clawfoot tub and giant picture window, and a brand new Samsung High Efficiency washer and dryer. There is also an April Air dehumidification system for maximum comfort. There are 3 queen size platform beds with brand new Tuft & Needle mattresses in the downstairs sleeping quarters. The lower level patio has built in benches for relaxing. The dock is 20'x20' with a retractable aluminum ladder for easy access in and out of the lake. The dock can accommodate power boats, water craft and lake water toys. The house is situated on the mid point of Lake Glenville which offers one of the longest most sweeping views of the lake. It is also one of the most sunny areas at all times of the day because of it's location. The house is secluded yet only a 15 minute drive to Cashiers town center and a 25 minute drive to Main Street in Highlands. It makes for the ideal spot for a family vacation. The house has Sonos, full high speed internet (the fastest on the lake), Nest thermostats, BBQ grill. Why is Lake Glenville such a sought after vacation destination? In the summertime, as the mercury

We really enjoyed our stay at this mountain lake home. It is well appointed and very clean. We enjoyed the quaintness of the area accessed by a (well-maintained) dirt road through the woods. The fire pit on the lake was such a great space for spending the evenings together recapping our day on the water. Thank you.
We loved our stay at The Barn on Lake Glenville. This house was the perfect set-up for our group — two adult couples (we stayed upstairs) and 3 teen brothers (stayed downstairs). There was plenty of room to spread out & keep the boys entertained. The house upstairs is clean and comfortable. The lake is a bit of a trek, but I think this is fairly common on this lake. The dock is lovely and we spent hours every day on it and swimming to the nearby spit. We would highly recommend renting a pontoon! We loved having access to a few kayaks and the firepit as well.
Excellent house on Lake Glenville.
We stayed at this lake house 3 nights over Labor Day. 2 adults 7 kids 11-14. More than enough room for us. The House is clean and updated. Anything you can imagine you would need is there as far as plates, utensils, wood, fire starters, tv, internet, etc. Easy access to the lake with deep dock. Fire pit by the water. Separate basement with space for kids and ping pong table. Large open living space and kitchen when all can hang out. We had a great time. Owners extremely responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
Very organized owner. Good location. Beautiful views. Biggest issue was safety. House seems to have major structural issues on the two story balcony. It’s being held up by crooked boards on top of cinder blocks. It seems way overdue for repair.
Kids had an awesome time. Property was very clean and a nice location on the lake close to downtown. Getting to the property was at times a little tricky when the road got to be 1 lane. Especially when you had big trucks coming the opposite way. there was only 5 of us but the house easily sleeps 12. Note to families with young toddlers, we didnt let our toddler out on the 2nd floor patio since the rail openings were a little to large and the ground was pretty far down. Overall, we had a great time and would definately stay here again.
Stayed 6 nights in Jun 2022

Disappointing
sadly, had we not had our family there, this would not have been a good vacation. The Lake is great but the trip down is long and there are stairs rotted and dangerous. All bedrooms and bathrooms are tiny with no storage and although there have been bathroom updates, the "master" is a closet, at best. The toilets rock and also the bathtub is dangerous. There is absolutely no storage in the kitchen for groceries and pots and pans are stored on ground level way under the island, requiring you to go on your hands and knees to access. There are concerns on the deck railing and the stairs down to the lower bedroom are narrow and steep. And the list goes on. All things considered, this house is way overpriced especially considering other homes available.
Mark and Jennifer were so responsive to our questions about the property. The house was very comfortable and well-provisioned. Couldn’t have asked for more! The new decks were safe and spacious—thank you!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Barn! The house perfectly accommodated our family get together and the downstairs area was great for the older kids as it contained three large beds, two couches, a large screen tv, ping-pong table and cornhole set. The kids enjoyed kayaking (3 came with the house) and fishing in the lake and we all enjoyed watching the sunset every evening around the fire pit at the lake’s edge. The lake is a bit of a hike down the hill (as are most houses on the lake) from the house and the road leading up to the house is tricky with the twists and turns however once you arrive it’s well worth the hike. We had a blast playing golf, horseback riding, cruising around the lake on our boat, hiking the nearby trails and going into Cashiers and Highlands to eat and shop. We look forward to our next trip to the area and would definitely recommend staying at the Barn!
Mark and Jen were excellent hosts! The property was perfect for our family group and the dock and scenery of the mountains were the perfect spot for my son to pop the question! She said YES!!❤️
Great house that is well designed and decorated. Simple and elegant. Downstairs was perfect for our teens to hang out and be by themselves. Everything was in great condition. Recommend minimizing trips up and down the mountain. Lake view was awesome and love the town of Cashiers. Breakfast at the Zookeeper Bistro was fantastic. Would return.
Lake Glenville is stunning and this property is the perfect compliment to it! Really great views and outdoor space. Contemporary and clean. We found everything that we needed and wanted in this home. And the host was responsive, helpful and so kind!
We have stayed on lake glenville a few times but first time at Barn. However it will not be out last. Great responsive management, beautifully decorated home, all the needed amenities.
This was perfect for our family. Grandchildren from Arizona enjoyed the cool mountain weather and we enjoyed being together. Fishing from the dock was great for the little ones who easily caught bream. The space was perfect for our family.
Called"The Barn" on signs leading to it (actually a white two story ranch house) this property is a very comfortable place for a large family to stay on a beautiful lake. It has three Queen bedrooms on the first floor and three Queen beds in a large lower-level room that works well for teens and younger. It does sleep 12 comfortably. Like most Glenvillle Lake rental properties, it has a steep serpentine trail from the house down to the lake where the property has a large, dock area for swimming, boating, and sunbathing. There is a small island very near the property that serves as a welcome landmark for finding your dock on this large lake! The only negative feature of the property is that the fire pit area is down at the lake level and is welcoming mostly for the younger generations. The owners who live next door are very good hosts and respond to any needs quickly. Our family had a great time this past week at this property.
This location is an outstanding venue to experience lake life in Glenville, North Carolina. The owners are very attentive to your comfort and meticulous in hosting details. The split floor design at the house allows for easy separation between adult and child family members. i’d recommend that children select the downstairs which has a great deal of room, more so than the pictures would suggest, to allow for their own unwinding. The house is on the lake and has access to a dock which can be used to secure a boat rental. There were three paddle kayaks on site available at no extra charge. The positioning of the property at the tip of the peninsula in the midlake is a fantastic location in terms of lake travel and lakeside viewing. Swimming around the dock and in the water near the property is safe and because of a nearby sandbar, is typically out of the path of other boats on the lake. It is also positioned on the shore of the widest portion of the lake allowing for easy tubing and water sport activities minutes away from your home dock. Both the main floor and bottom floor, are equipped with their own decks and there is a gas grill on site as well. Lastly, although publicly many would claim that a vacation like this should also be a vacation from technology, we are not always as courageous if we are forced into a situation with terrible Wi-Fi connectivity. Unlike many other homes around the lake, this home is well equipped with outstanding WiFi and smart TVs in every convenient location. You can leave your Rokus and Firesticks at home. If you must work while on vacation, the WiFi is fully capable for your needs without having to drive into town. By the way, Bucks cafe in town no longer allows laptops or iPads in an effort to discourage vacation workers occupying their store. Anyway, last bits of advice that I would offer is as you get closer to the house realize that the house is called “The Barn” on signage otherwise you may get lost. Also, check out time is 10 AM. We hope to re-create this vacation in upcoming years.
This is a great property on Lake Glenville for family fun. We had a great time on the lake, enjoyed the dock and the fire pit quite a bit. The downstairs is perfect for kids, 3 queen beds, a ping pong table, mini fridge/bar area, second living space with TV. The upstairs is lovely with 3 bedrooms- all with queen beds. Kitchen was very well-stocked with everything you may need to cook/grill. Bathrooms are cute, although pretty small with limited counter space. All the appliances worked well.
The view is beautiful with excellent sunset views from the porch and dock.
For older guests, the walk to the lake is steep and the stairs to the downstairs are also a little small - so watch your step. The drive to the property also includes a one lane dirt road that can be a bit tough for timid drivers.
Overall, we would absolutely book it again for a two family vacation. :)
We stayed in this lovely house for the 2nd time and enjoyed it even more than the first! We had several teens in our group and the downstairs area was perfect for them. The house is well stocked and the beds are very comfortable. Perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
We can't say enough great things about our trip to The Barn! Our family enjoyed everything they had to offer. We were even able to rent a boat through the property which made it even more seamless. Such a great place to getaway and enjoy everything the lake and mountains have to offer. We will definitely be back!
My family and I enjoyed our time at this lakefront cottage. It was clean, great views of the lake and we even rented the pontoon boat for a day. The communication with Jennifer was excellent. A wonderful getaway!
We made an excellent choice by selecting this modern smartly renovated home (the Barn) for our Christmas holiday. The design gives you spectacular panoramic views of the lake that made us feel like we were in Canada or Switzerland. We were in good hands with Jen and Mark, our hosts, who responded immediately to every one of our requests or questions. Every item in the home is of very high quality and in pristine condition. I promise this vacation home will exceed your expectations — gorgeous in location, design and function.
