The Alchemist Retreat, a private Studio in Carterton

Welcome to the Alchemist Retreat, a sunny and spacious, uniquely modern, self-contained studio nestled privately in our back garden, with its own limestone meandering pathway entrance. The studio is a separate dwelling from the hosts house with its own access onto a large deck within the garden and mature trees.
The Alchemist Retreat is an ideal getaway for couples looking for style and panache, in addition to peace and tranquility. Located just a 3 minute walk from the Carterton railway station, you have easy access to the town centre and short drive to Greytown, Martinborough and the rest of the wonderful Wairarapa.

Enjoy the unlimited WiFi to stream your favourite shows to watch on your own device. Listen to music on the Bose speaker or the Bluetooth turntable with a small collection of nostalgic vinyl. For those traveler's who don't plan on spending vacation time cooking, choose from the many boutique restaurants, cafes and eateries in and about the local towns, otherwise the kitchenette has a multi-functional microwave oven for heating up your meal or delicacies you have just purchased.
Accessed by a lock code, the studio has WiFi, a stylish bathroom, super comfortable and cosy double bed with quality linen, a kitchenette equipped with an under bench fridge, toaster, kettle, conserves with teas and plunger coffee.
…Did I mention about wine! … the whole region has some of the countries best wineries to visit and purchase.
Sit back with a glass on the deck, watch the sun go down, then marvel at the magical night sky, listen to music and reflect on your day exploring the region.

Comfy Cottage
What a brilliant location. Tucked un at the back of the main section, far away from main house yet not to far. Upon entering we were TOTALLY in awe of the layout and the decorations. Very suitable to the township. Being cosy was right up there. All amenities in excellent order, including a fridge that was tucked away behind a door keeping the usually fridge noise to a minium. Especially not audible during sleeping. Would recommend to anyone visiting the Martinbourough, Geytown, Carterton area.

Carterton stay
Beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. As can happen I didn't get any check in information. When I mentioned this to the husband he told me that Chrissy always sent it out and I needed to learn to read! Not a good start after an 8 hr drive to get there. The bed was very comfortable for 1 but for 2 extremely bouncy so if anyone moved it was like being out at sea in a rubber dingy in a storm. Lounge chairs very uncomfortable to sit in for any length of time. Loud ticking clock - took the batteries out. Take care stepping into the room from outside as the mat slips under your feet on the polished floor. Minuscule amount of milk, coffee and sugar, had to get more ourselves even though we booked for 3 nights. Hubby asked for a replacement for the insect spray as it had run out and was very rudely asked "What are you doing here" when he went to the door. Booked 3 nights but only stayed 3. Very dissapointing

Spotlessly clean
Was spotless and comfy bed but a couple of things I wish I had paid more attention to. Layout meant the bed was close to the fridge which meant I heard humming on and off which along with ticking clock ( I removed battery) was annoying as I’m noise sensitive. I wanted to work on laptop but chairs were not comfortable for working from. Ok for sitting at breakfast for but not suitable for work. Nice shower and water pressure and again spotlessly clean but was a bit chilly with no heater in bathroom. Travelling alone I would have liked a way of securing door from inside as keypad entrance is convenient but meant anyone who knew code could access.

Peaceful getaway overlooking a beautiful garden and decor to dream off.
Hi Chrissie, I want to say thank you for the lovely stay. It's certainly a place of paradise that you have there. Beautiful decor, stunning garden, and so private. The outdoor deck is just a great place to relax with a wine and cheeseboard after a day of exploring the sites if Martinborough, Lake Ferry, Featherston and Greytown. I enjoyed my time away and I'm happy to recommend your little getaway retreat. Megan
