Wonderful Beach House
The Beach House was great for us! Very close to the main street of Carpinteria as well as the beach. We had a dog and an eleven year old with us and both enjoyed the house. The porches were great for relaxing an taking in the scenery. Beautiful backyard as well. The home owner was very responsive and easy to contact. We hope to be able to return someday!

Great family getaway
Great spot for a few getaway days in wonderfully charming Carpinteria. Accommodations were perfect for a dad, 13yo daughter and 11yo son. We didn’t use our car once as everything we needed was a bike ride away. The bikes and beach wagon in the garage were so helpful to facilitate our stay. And a fantastic beach (clean, nice sand, decent waves, clean public restroom) was only blocks away. Make sure you check out the vandenburg launch schedule as we had a great view of a rocket launch. Would definitely come back!!!

Great location. The bedrooms were large and had one king and a twin roll away in each. Great view from the upstairs. Very close to the train tracks, but it did not seem to bother anyone. The window coverings in the bedroom do not do a great job blocking light so everyone was up early. There is not a hot tub like is listed on the front page, but it has a deep bath tub.

Great location - time for some updates
Ruta is an excellent host with great communication. The location couldn’t be better with easy walking beach and downtown access. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs with king beds. The rollaway beds in each of those bedrooms would be a challenge for any adult as they look highly uncomfortable. There is a blow up queen mattress upstairs that works great. Small kids could sleep on the couches upstairs. The upstairs bathroom is fine but needs updating. If someone needed access to the downstairs bathroom during the overnight hours, it would be a challenge to make your way down there. That bathroom is also in need of an update as it’s very cold on winter mornings and has carpet on the floors around the toilet and shower. Also the property backs up to the train tracks so if that is a concern, you may want to take that into account. This is a nice property in a nice neighborhood with a great landlord. It will be even better when they are able to make some updates. I’m thankful we were able to stay there during Thanksgiving.

Great Space!
Our foursome stayed for a few nights while we attended a family wedding nearby. Our host was phenomenal. She was proactive in communicating with us and very helpful. The house had two king beds which was important to us! It was located in a charming community near the beach and the quaint downtown. We didn't spend a lot of time here, but the sleep was sound and the beds very comfy.

Very comfortable home. But you need to be able to climb stairs. Very thing you need is there, dishes, pans, spices, towels, robes, blankets, lots of outdoor chairs, umbrellas to take to the beach. Two refrigerators. Back yard is great for kids. Loved sitting out on balcony. Fun cooking on the antique stove. Thank you Ruta.

Sweet Beach House in Lovely Carp
We love the Carp/Santa Barbara area and wanted to spend my birthday week there and happened upon this little gem of a sweet older house on VRBO. We brought our two dogs who loved the large backyard with lots of room to explore. The house has a well stocked kitchen, comfy sofas and beds and a balcony perfect for having our morning coffee, and later for watching the sunset. (The dogs also loved the balcony for watching the neighborhood cats!) Though it was not a problem for us, prospective renters may want to know that the kitchen area and the living area are on different levels, and there are several steps leading down into the backyard as well. We loved our stay and will have great memories of this trip. Thank you, Ruta, for offering your sweet house!

Great Rental with Lg Backyard and Access to the Best Beach
Everything was as advertised. The management thinks of everything - I saw boogie boards, bicycles, dog toys…. We didn’t cook while there but had a great time taking our dog to the lovely beach, showering off the sand in the back yard and tossing the ball til she was all dry. The bedrooms were very clean and comfy, and we watched the sunset each day and relaxed in the comfortable sitting room.

Clarification on the Sugar Shack. It is a rustic seasonal unit, not heated or insulated, and not desirable when the weather is inclement, Unfortunately, the weather this spring has been unusually cold, overcast, and rainy which alters the availability of using the Sugar Shack.

Great spot in Carp
We have stayed in multiple properties in Carp and we all really enjoyed Ruta's place. It was very cozy. We loved the beds and were within walking distance to the beach and downtown. A great deck where you can see the ocean was a bonus. Plus she has lots of beach toys for the kiddos. We would highly recommend.

Nice property, comfortable beds and well supplied kitchen. The only improvement is the photo in the listing with bikes includes a children’s bike but there are only adult bikes available. Host made us aware of this when booking so we’re not surprised. Property does require climbing steps to enter - not a problem for us but other guests should be aware.

Wonderful space!
The living room and bedrooms upstairs are exceptionally comfortable. The view of the sunset ( northwest view of sunset and mountains) is very special and the backyard provides for glorious mornings of sun and songbirds! Kitchen well equipped, Ruta, the owner is a gracious host who is immediately accessible. Pictures on website are very accurate. We will definitely return to this home!!

The Beach House has a fantastic setup and couldn’t be in a better location. We loved walking to the beach for sunrise and sunset walks. Spending time at the house was so comfortable whether in the living room upstairs or in the kitchen. Relaxing in the back yard, on the front porch or on the second floor balcony with a fantastic variety of chairs, tables and awnings was hard to beat. Carpinteria is a low key small town with so much to offer.

Great location, fun house with lots of beach toys: umbrellas, chairs, boogie boards. We especially appreciated the bikes. Beds were comfortable, and the house was clean. As others mentioned, the layout is a little funny, with the kitchen downstairs but the gathering spots upstairs. So it wasn't conducive to cooking big meals with us all together. Balcony was fantastic for sunsets and happy hours.

*In general, the house is downright DIRTY. The walls, doors, windows, kitchen counters need thorough washing. The top of the wooden block on the kitchen island was filthy with grime, which we scrubbed off before food could be prepared. *Electrical issues in the bedroom made us feel unsafe. The light by the bedroom entrance does not work. And the outlet on the opposite side of the bed is not functional. *Insect problems. There is an ant problem in the bedroom. And a spider problem in the Shack Room. Multiple large >1 inch spiders had to be dealt with throughout the stay. * The VRBO description does not mention that the house is NOT handicap friendly. Need to go up/down stairs to get to kitchen or bathroom.

Karen, I'm sorry your stay wasn't to your satisfaction. I value your feedback and wish you had reached out to me while you were there so I could have been of assistance to you. Prior to check-ins, I personally inspect the home to ensure it is prepared adequately for all arrivals with amenities in order. I have operated the home for close to twenty years and have never had an issue with housekeeping. The numerous reviews posted attest to the quality of housekeeping and approval of past guests. Thank you for bringing the insect problem to my attention. I have a pest control company working on it. Regarding your concern about electrical, the light and outlet are operational. There is a wall switch that controls power to these outlets. When flipped down, it shuts the power off to them. Once you flip the switch up, the power is available to those outlets. The lack of wheelchair accessibility is noted in the amenities section under "Accessibility". I'm sorry you did not see that prior to booking the home. I would have mentioned it if you would have asked during our communications. I strive to be a great host as you can see from my collection of reviews. Feedback from travelers like you allows me to continue to strive on making sure that everyone who stays in my home has a pleasant experience.

Perfect getaway
This is an outstanding property with a TOP NOTCH HOST. just 4 blocks from the beach, the Host provides everything you could want to make your stay a beach friendly experience. The kids boogie-boarded all day then relaxed at home after the sun set. We made trips into Montecito and Santa Barbara, which are just 10-15 minutes away. We will definitely come back!

Carpinteria, best keep it a secret!
Very nice and comfortable. Ruta was very helpful and even told us about local events like the farmer’s market on Thursdays. Really good stuff. We love Carpinteria, this one was one to remember and the Beach House helped to make it so.

We don't want to leave.
We loved being at the Beach House! Perfect location!!! You can stroll to the beach or walk into town. The house is big, clean and comfortable, with everything you could possibly need. Great bikes and beach gear to use. The backyard is really fun with several places to gather or sit around the fire or bbq. Loved hanging on the porches. We even enjoyed the trains. We hope to come back this fall/winter . Try to stay longer: 3 nights was too short for us.

This was our second stay at the Beach House. The location very near the beach but also a short walk to downtown Carpinteria is so ideal. The house is vintage with tons of charm and personal touches, plus everything you could possibly need as provided by an experienced owner. A Place for Healing and Fun
We rented from February 26th to March 28th. This property has everything that you could possibly want or need - beach towels, bikes, wagon, boogie boards, backyard grill and lots of patio furniture, cuddly throws, flashlights, crockpot, etc. It is decorated in a fun and eclectic style. About 4 blocks from the beach - it is an easy bike ride or walk. In fact, you can see a bit of the ocean from the second floor deck. Out of all the beaches in the Santa Barbara area, this is my favorite. I have a little Shih Tzu that is totally blind. The back yard is beautiful, big, and fenced in so that she could wander around all she wanted and I did not need to worry about her getting out. The trip was worth it just for her. My son had a friend over one evening and we had a lovely barbecue in the backyard. My husband is dealing with Stage 4 cancer and this was a good place for respite. And yes, there is Amtrak rails behind the back fence, but is was not an issue with the trains going by. In fact, it was rather fun. Carpinteria is more laid back than the busyness experienced in Santa Barbara or Goleta. It was magical. I would recommend this property to anyone.

This property is close to the beach and Carpinteria town, the location can't be beat! It is clean, comfortable, and has all the amenities needed for an enjoyable holiday: bikes, washer/dryer, comfy beds and TVs. Unfortunately for me there were a lot of stairs and areas in the yard that were difficult for my furry companions.

The Beach House was Perfect
The Beach House was ideal for our visit. Location is wonderful and the house is equipped with everything you need and more. Kitchen was stocked with more cookware than my own kitchen. Everything was clean and organized. The 2 king beds are a huge plus. The train does run behind the house but not a bother for us at all. We enjoyed the daily walks to the beach and took a couple of bike rides. We will be back!!

Fun return to Carpinteria
This trip was a return visit to the beach town I went to many times as a child in the 50s and 60s. It was everything I remembered. A small town without the glitz of most SoCal beach towns but with a beautiful beach, great restaurants and a vibrant community. The house was clean and well appointed. Located walking distance between the beach and town so we never drove our car the entire time we were there. We would definitely book this house again.

What a cute place!
We had 5 people stay and we were quite comfortable! Ruta was really responsive, had everything there you would/could need and we had a good time. Great location to walk all around; kitchen had all the things we needed to cook and clean and she had tons of beach related things for us to use. Wifi was good, watched the sunset each night, and had a fire pit going one time too. I think the only thing I'd bring next time is my firestick. We would definitely stay here again!

Great house walking distance to the beach.
The location was super convenient and the house provides a great wagon to help get all your stuff to the beach and back. Bicycles were a great touch as we could ride to breakfast in the mornings. The train runs through the backyard but it wasn't a bother as it doesn't seem to run between 10PM and 7AM. Only note is that younger kids likely not appropriate for the "sugar shack" but plenty of bedding. A great stay! We'll be back.

This is a great place for family with lots of room. Its about a 10 minute walk to the beach with kids and there are stairs that the older people staying with struggled with but other then that it is amazing!

This was a very spacious, light, airy, property. Bedrooms were large restful havens and beds marvelously comfortable. Living area was on upper floor with bedrooms. Two bedrooms shared one large bathroom which was not clear in listing. However, the third bedroom (the "Sugar Shack") on the lower floor had a private bathroom with shower. Kitchen was charming and very well-supplied but the cabinet placement made getting dishes out and replacing very difficult and these need modernizing. Only other criticism was the closeness of Amtrak which was startling at varying times of the day. There were two balconies one upstairs, one in front of the house which were very pleasant and an enormous back yard with tables, seating, and barbecue which we didn't take advantage of but would be nice for a large family. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

Comfortable home base
This was a wonderful property for our family - especially for my son who loves trains! The house is very well stocked, and we had access to the clubhouse, which was also fun for my son. My daughter loved the balcony. We loved the upstairs living room - it was truly a home away from home. The beds were comfortable and the decor very beachy - it was a great getaway. It can get a little stuffy upstairs but plenty of fans were provided to help - we would gladly return for our next trip to Santa Barbara area.

We stayed in The Beach House for 10 weeks while working remotely and visiting our son. We were extremely comfortable in this home, and fell in love with the location and the town. The house is perfectly located near wonderful walking - both to town, and the beach. We even came to find comfort in the train that passes by.. never at night! Being able to walk on this beautiful beach each day, watch the birds and 'flying fish' in the salt marsh, was magical. The house offered everything one could possibly need during a stay. Ruta was extremely responsive and helpful, and respectful of our time while working when internet changes were made. We will definitely hope to stay here again. I was sad to leave!
