We were greeted by a very friendly and polite reception member of staff who couldn't do enough for us it really started our weekend break on a good note and it just got better, the Hotel has its own parking which is perfect thou you have to pay its just ideal, and its central to the Castle, shops and Sophia Gardens cant wait to go back.

Nice hotel close to castle

The Angel is well located to the castle and St. Maty’s street. Most of the older part of Cardiff is within walking distance.

Nice hotel excellent location for visiting cardiff

Pros: Central location
Cons: looking dated from car park side of hotel
Location: brilliant location opposite castle and 200 yards from rugby stadium
Very clean . Staff really friendly and helpfull .sadley charged 13 pounds for parking car overnight

Convenient location in Cardiff

Excellent location for a stay in central Cardiff. Lovely hotel and friendly staff but the breakfast, whilst plentiful, would benefit from better quality products (principally bacon, eggs and sausages) for the £14.99 per head per breakfast. Also the Continental selection was not great and left to dry out whilst a simple plastic cover would have prevented that. Parking is an extra cost too.

Great hotel

A great place to stat right in the centre opposite the castle. Plenty of history and was quiet. Staff very friendly.

Faded glory and creaking

There were several ghost telephone calls to our room which, like automated calls, had no-one on the other end. One of the lifts was out of action. Fire alarm during night - all out on the road with inadequate advise and supervision - no explanation of reason given. Staff on walkie-talkies in the corridor awoke us both an hour after alarm. Quality of breakfast ingredients disappointing. Shower head constantly slipped down. Following previous visits we expected better. The accumulation of minor faults detracts from the experience.

Never again

Hotel is old and gross. Parking wasn’t available so I had to pay double and walk further. Old toilet didn’t flush unless you knew the trick and the tank was covered in mold. Room stunk like mold and the window didn’t completely close. I could hear the neighbors and the person they were talking to on the phone and the room phone didn’t work. Great location and nice staff, but that was it.
