Convenient to walk to town centre, friendly staff.

We have stayed at this hotel before so it was a disappointment this time that the restaurant was closed to guests as a private function was on and although we were told we could have a meal in the bar it was very busy with diners it was not convenient to eat there. As it was snowing we did not wish to walk to Cardiff, we were able to eat at a restaurant in a nearby hotel. Breakfast however was excellent with a good selection of produce available.

Great location, close to the castle, shopping and restaurants, the park. Very good breakfast included. Friendly staff from all over.

slightly disappointed by the run down state of most of the hotel. It’s an old hotel, but stripped of it’s richness that used to give it it’s charm.

The staff is friendly and the location very good.

We would prefer to have a quiet room. We were in front of the main road and the noise insulation was inadequate.

Cons: needs a bit of painting
Location: very central
Location of this hotel very good for city centre staff were friendly and helpful stayed 2 nights and would chose this hotel again

Angel hotel Cardiff

First thing I noticed was a ripped chair in the room. The room smelt of damp, and the outside noise kept us awake until 3 am. Waste bins had not been emptied

Central location.

The Angel is in the best location, central with easy transport links. Parking is an issue, a squeeze and a sneaky extra £13/night. I always liked the retro feel, a little tired and worn but historic with visible links to Captain Robert Scott's sail to the Antarctic from Cardiff. Not so much now though,a lilacy makeover looks dull and a bit grubby, railway waiting room lighting to depress. Nevertheless, comfy beds and a superb shower compensate, with downtown Cardiff on the doorstep. Check price carefully though, they can be very silly at times when the hotel freeloads off local events.

We appreciate the traditional (lilac) decor is not to everyone's taste but we have kept in authentic to the era. I was disappointed to read your comment about the price. We do price ourselves market appropriate and tend to be one of the cheapest full service, central Cardiff hotels.
