Nice hotel near the castle

Posted 29-Jan-2016
Pros: staff, comfy rooms.
Cons: Fix the receipt systems asap. This is not acceptable.
Location: Right next to the castle and the town centre, as well as the rugby stadium.
Booking - fine, Check in -fine, restaurant the food was pretty good (burnt toast with the ham terrine though) - the waiting staff were brilliant - prompt, friendly and courteous. Room was OK, although there was a bulb out in one of the lamps. Breakfast was nice. The receptionist promised to email me my hotel VAT receipt, as there was a problem with “the systems” but this has failed to arrive.

Lovely traditional hotel close to city centre

Posted 04-Jan-2016
Pros: Staff were so friendly, traditional but clean and comfortable. Great breakfast
Cons: Next to busy road, but didn't cause us a problem.
Location: Location is central, great for Cardiff Castle, the shopping centre, Millennium Stadium. Recommend the great choice of restaurants in City Road
Lovely traditional hotel with loads of character. Our room had a view of Cardiff Castle. Staff were so friendly. Eating out was a pleasure there is so much choice both in the centre and also City Road has a great selection of food from around the world as well as vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. Our favourite restaurant for gluten free and vegatatian being Milgi in City Road

Very well positioned in Cardiff.

Posted 18-Nov-2015
Pros: Excellent position
Cons: Car park is around the back of the hotel so it would be useful to have entrance to the hotel direct from the car park, rather than having to come arouo
Location: Opposite the Castle. Close to shops and restaurants.
Good position opposite the Castle and close to shops and restaurants. Splendid entrance and foyer, however, some rooms need a little tlc.

Staying at the Angel Hotel

Posted 05-Nov-2015 on Hotels
Nice hotel. Excellent city central position. Quiet, despite being city centre ( we were on the second floor) Lifts were tiny. Ok for our needs but would be a nightmare for anyone with suitcases. It was unseasonably warm throughout our stay and the room was like a sauna. Had to have the window open as far as it could go ( letting in noise) and the fan on for the entire duration of our stay. Customers need to be able to control their room temperature ( dials etc) without having to take such drastic measures! We did report this at reception. The only change we noticed upon returning to our room that night was that one of the lighting lamps had been removed...?!?! We would certainly book again and hope for a cooler room!
