Lovely place

Above standard, very clean spacious room with plenty of tea and coffee. Hairdryer and trouser press in room as well as fridge and microwave. Breakfast was fabulous, lovely food, clean and well presented. Hosts are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble will definitely be going there again

Tony and staff were extremely friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Room was very clean and comfortable with fridge and microwave. The breakfast was amazing. Easy to get to main town and railway station. Will most definitely stay there again…

Comfortable and well located
The location is excellent, very peaceful. There is a railway line next to the property but it didn't appear to be a mainline and didn't bother us, even though we slept with our windows open (a great bonus these days). Sadly we were unable to taste the breakfast as we had an early appointment, but I am sure it is as good as the property is. Our appointment was in Cardiff and the guest house is a good location as we were very near the M4 and it took only about 40 minutes to get there. The room price was great so I would recommend this property as a good place to stop whether you are travelling to Bridgend, Cardiff or Newport.

I have stayed before, several years ago, and found there to be no change. It’s a very clean homely place, friendly staff, all amenities in the room, lovely cooked breakfasts, would definitely recommend !

We visited Wales to attend a family funeral, and Hazelwood quickly became a haven of peace, comfort, and warmth for us during a difficult time. The innkeeper Tony was so caring and thoughtful and made sure that every detail of our stay was just perfect. We will be back to Wales for otrher family events, and we will never stay anywhere else. Thank you, Tony, for creating such a lovely home away from home!

Fine and dandy
Very friendly owners who are always available to help with any advice or issues. The whole Guesthouse is clean and comfortable, but if anything too warm, which with the price of energy these days is surprising. There's a small fridge in the room and also a kettle with tea and coffee.

Very friendly hosts. The bed was super comfy and the room I was in was huge. The Wi-Fi was fast and reliable and most importantly, they had biscuits :) I couldn't have asked for anything else.

A beautiful “homey” residence surrounded by attractive well maintained gardens. Had an ambiance of peace and tranquility. The entire property was immaculate inside and out. The manager and two charming lady hosts were most welcoming and accommodating. Deserves a long stay.

Lovely little guesthouse with friendly and welcoming owners. Fantastic value, spotlessly clean with good overall amenities. Breakfast was cheap and tasty with a light breakfast option if required. Light sleepers should note the property is close to a railway line so requesting a room on the right side of the house. It's not extremely loud but could cause disturbance to the easily woken! The house is located down a lovely country lane and is walkable to Bridgend albeit, be aware there is limited street lighting at night. Plenty of taxis in the area though. We stayed to go to a gig in Cardiff and it was so handy so I'd highly recommend to anyone else attended events in Cardiff who want to avoid extortionate hotel charges there.

Fabulous stay, hotel is in a quiet location, staff very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and good value. We stayed during a rugby match in Cardiff. It was 20 minutes walk to Bridgend train station with frequent trains into and from Cardiff . Will stay again

My two night stay was lovely. I had a very comfortable bed and large bathroom. I had my bike with me and Tony was very helpful letting me keep it in the house. I also left my phone charger behind and Tony posted it back to me free of charge which was very kind. Tony and his team were very friendly and helpful and I'd certainly recommend you stay there and see for yourself.

Thank you, it was lovely and the people were very accommodating and happy to help. Breakfast was superb - even my dad was happy. Very comfortable beds. Shower could do with a bit more power but a very minor thing. Had a lovely stay :)

Hazelwood house shambles
When we arrived there was no one to meet us due to owner being unwell. However we left a note asking someone to come see us and explain about breakfast, no one came to see us so we missed out on a days breakfast even though we paid for it. The room itself was not clean, there was wrappers on the bedroom and bathroom floor. Under the bed was filthy, no one approached us to see if we needed new towels or sheets. We followed their instructions on putting a notice on the door to not be disturbed while we was out, we came back after a nice day and found that the cleaners had been in our room just to charge their phone and not bother cleaning the room. When confronted about this they first off tried to say it was ours which it clearly wasnt, they then said it must have been the person before us. It wasnt there when we checked because we used the sockets the days before. So if it was there before us it also proves they dont clean the rooms. Breakfast is not worth the money. The food is store brought not fresh which is not disclosed. The cutlery,plates, bowls, cups and even the coffee holder is filthy and not cleaned. The guestbook they have has also been filled out by themselves so it looks like a good hotel. Please avoid at all costs and find a better option. There are better places and more friendly people around.

Michael, I am sorry to see your review, however everything you have said was not true, the charger that you found in your room was a previous guest that we have posted off to him, we did not come into your room as you had the not disturb on the door, we received no payment from hotel.com as the card was declined. the breakfast you say you missed as well as the stay was not paid, your contact details are also not valid.
