This cottage is perfect for a couple looking to save money but still have a million dollar view. In Kealakekua Bay, just 3 minutes from some of the best snorkeling and wildlife viewing in the world, atop 49 tropical steps sits this private bungalow. There is a full sized outdoor kitchen, and modernized indoor/outdoor bathroom. This rental is suggested only for people confident in climbing 49 steps (see photos) multiple times daily as the stairs climb high to get the beautiful views and privacy.
The house is located on a private road. There is a kitty cat that will come and visit and ask for snacks, she is very sweet. There is a 10p.m. no noise ordinance for the neighborhood. Noise travels very easily in the bay, you might not see people but you can still hear them. You can always go inside if you want to stay up later.

We spent a glorious 10 days in this little "Tree House" to celebrate our 40th Anniversary. The room and environs were very clean, LaRissa, the Caretaker was very helpful, we loved the outdoor kitchen and having a washer and dryer. The constant visits from the beautiful little geckos outside and lovely birds with their distinct calls, and the incredible view were all fabulous. For us, the location was ideal, very quiet, near the City of Refuge, coffee and chocolate farms. Loved the rural environment. We will definitely be returning next April.

My husband and I stayed here for a night on our honeymoon and wish it was for longer. We had such an incredible night watching the sunset and enjoyed the very relaxing and secluded experience here. This cottage was perfect for us. Secluded, with everything we needed. Epic sunsets! We actually liked climbing the stairs since we weren't getting as much exercise as usual. The outdoor kitchen is well-stocked and we appreciated the seating areas outside. Everything was clean and comfortable. The furnishings are simple and tasteful, matching the whole feel of the cottage. The hosts were very communicative and helpful. A shout out to the property manager who was responsive and informative and did an exceptional job ensuring everything was super clean. If you like nature and serenity, this should be high on your list. As other reviewers (and the property description) make clear, it is not for everyone.

Awesome little Paradise

We really enjoyed staying at this absolutely beautiful little paradise. Everything was perfect, how it is integrated right in the middle of nature with so many lovely details. The owner is Super nice and we enjoyed the company of his sweet little cat - we will definitely rent it again next time when we come back here for vacation.

Amazing and magical place to stay!!!!

Amazing location, unbelievable view for morning coffee (and for sunsets too), a super comfortable bed for falling into at night, a beautiful shower for washing off the ocean, all around a wonderful spot. Away from the noise and the bustle. What a magical getaway place. We snorkeled every morning, kayaked in the bay below, and overall had a ball.

We had an amazing time at Gus’ property. It is absolute paradise. we enjoyed the lenai for watching whales and sunset each day. Loved the outdoor kitchen and partial open air shower. 11/10 recommend.

Fantastic

Loved every bit of staying here! Wasn't quite as privacy friendly as we thought but it was well worth it. We'd love to come back sometime. The cat was sooo cute so we bought her some treats while we were there. The owners were great. We had a lovely time.

View you won’t forget

We stayed here for 4 days and fell in love with the views, privacy and quiet. Could hear the waves crashing in the distance. All of the amenities you might need in the kitchen, comfortable bed, beach chairs to use. Location is really convenient to exploring this side of the island, particularly for any tours to Captain Cook or night snorkeling with manta rays as well as city of refuge and Two step.. And we enjoyed the visits from the neighborhood cat Parks.

Perfect!

This was our second time staying at this property. Both times were as perfect as it gets. The property is in a secluded private area with a perfect view of Kealakekua Bay. Very relaxing place to stay! There is a wonderful cat named Paele that stops by to visit and receive treats. Gus is readily available for any questions or concerns of which there were none. We will return again in the future!

An open concept home that has the perfect tropical views of the bay. If you want to experience tropical living then this is the place. Everything needed for your stay is available. Very clean. Quiet. All the better to hear all of the birds and wind in the foliage. Highly recommend a stay here.

SUNSETS!!!

This house was beyond fantastic. The view alone was stunning, but the SUNSETS were insane!!! We had so much fun here! Our 6 year old daughter loved when the cat came to visit! We also enjoyed the geckos, the birds, and we even saw a pig in the backyard one morning! HA! (We gave it its space & took some fun pictures from afar!!) I have already recommended this house to friends who will be in your area for their honeymoon.. I just loved it so much. We hope to be back someday! Lil' Treehouse

This little spot was perfect for our 4-night stay in the fall. It felt like we were in a treehouse. It might be a little too warm for my husband in the summer, but in the fall the fans provided were enough to keep us cool. Bugs were not a problems either. The bed was very comfortable and the view from it WAS AMAZING!The place was very clean and we really could hear the ocean. I loved the company of the geckos and the little black kitty :)We would love to stay there again!!!!

Ocean views and waves crashing

This is a beautiful, comfortable indoor/outdoor rental. The bedroom is modern and comfortable, and watching the sunrise and sunset from bed was such an indulgence. We were able to hear the waves crashing all day and night, otherwise the only noises are birds chirping. The bathroom is big and modern, and the washer/dryer a huge benefit. There is a fully stocked kitchen and grill, and even treats for the local kitty. The views can't be beat, and the location is convenient to Kona and some killer snorkeling spots. We would love to stay again!

Peaceful location with an amazing view

We could not have enjoyed our stay more. The building and grounds were more than we had hoped. The bedroom was situated in a way that provided an exquisite view of the bay while still feeling private and secluded. The kitchen in the back of the building had all we needed to prepare our meals. We hope to come back and visit again in the future. We could not have been more pleased. The only problem we have found is that other rentals will have a very hard time living up to this experience. Thanks so much allowing to stay at your property.

Quiet neighborhood with stunning Kealakekua Bay view

As described, this residence was largely open air with a commanding view; think comfortable glamping in the tree tops! The bedroom and bathroom were enclosed and quite comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped with a full sized fridge and stove. The little, friendly geckos were everywhere and quite adorable. The area around Captain Cook was nicely situated for a large variety of activities including hiking, kayaking, snorkeling and biking. Groceries, coffee and excellent restaurants (especially Keei Cafe!) were also within close driving distance. If you can manage stairs, this cottage is highly recommended.

49 steps to heaven

This rental is fabulous. There is only one (bed)room, with windows on all four sides. In front the ocean view is stunning. On the back there is the outside kitchen and a beautiful back yard. From the kitchen, one sees the ocean through the room. Sanitary is detached. The place is very quiet, as we expected, and the privacy is very good. The property is very well kept and is well equipped. We had many very good rentals (and a few not so good). This one is by far the best one.
