Our room was clean and modern, with Nespresso coffee and T2 teabags. Pool,Gym and Spa are a different business on the premises so they closed early (5pm) on the Sunday that we arrived. No matter, I went to the pool the next morning and found it to be a good length (25m?) for swimming. The steam room was also nice and strong, if you like a good steam.
Reception staff were professional and courteous, however housekeeping was the disappointing part. On our second day, the bathroom sink was blocked. I informed reception and told them we were going out for the day (11am). We returned at 4pm and sink was still blocked and room had not been made up. Went out to dinner about 6pm and informed staff at reception. When we came back from dinner, they had fixed the sink and made up the room. It's disappointing that unless I chased it up, our room probably would not have been serviced nor the sink fixed.
Also the Wifi is quite slow. The 4G reception (Telstra) on my phone was much faster at loading websites, facebook etc.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay here and would recommend to those seeking high class accommodation in central Canberra. The hotel is beautifully appointed in Art Deco style: the original building was extended during the 1980s and we were told it has won design awards (well deserved). The foyer and lounges are particularly elegant and the ensuite bathroom for our 'standard' king-size room was amazing with huge mirrors and beautiful fittings.
The hotel appeared to be very well run with highly professional, attentive and friendly staff. Our room was cleaned and made up whist we had breakfast, which demonstrates good organisation/management which is often lacking in hotels these days...The buffet breakfast (included in our room rate) was excellent, especially the selection of fresh fruits and nuts etc., with a wide variety of hot and cold choices of food. We also appreciated being able to have a cup of afternoon tea in a small lounge near to our room.
The whole experience felt very luxurious, yet the price we paid was very reasonable for this class of hotel. We considered it good value for money - perhaps rates were reduced in January whist the politicians were out of town? If so, this was a good business decision as the hotel was busy (but not packed) with people enjoying everything this beautiful hotel has to offer.
The hotel and my room were fine - clean, well-kept, comfortable, and reasonably priced for the area. Staff was pleasant and helpful. The only issue I could have would be the location - although when you look up the hotel on Google Maps there seem to be multiple cafés/restaurants nearby, these are not very accessible by foot. However, this is probably more a problem of Canberra than of the hotel itself. Public transport is very close though, with buses going to the city less than a block away.
Our stay at the Brassey Hotel in Canberra was a very enjoyable one. Whilst the décor was a little dated, the rooms were very nice and comfortable. The shared breakfast room was excellent, with tea and coffee facilities available at all times for guests. We were also able to access Gym and Pool facilities in the other adjacent hotels owned by the same group. The staff were really friendly and helpful also. The hotel was within walking distance to great places to eat in Kingston and Manuka, as well as the old and new Parliament Houses. Overall, we would recommend it highly.

Capital Hill, overlooking Lake Burley Griffin, is the literal and figurative highpoint of Canberra’s Parliamentary Triangle. The grass-topped Parliament House is located here, as is the National Portrait Gallery, the National Archives, and several embassies and high commission offices. Across the water by bridge are Kings and Commonwealth Parks.
