Cold, drafty, hard to heat, built on the 50's.

Posted 17-Aug-2015
Pros: very clean. very friendly staff. Good breakfast but expensive. Good location.
Cons: Put some weather stripping around the doors.
Had to stuff towels around our door to try and stop cold air coming in. Heater unit could not warm the room even on high.

Good location, not worth the price

Posted 13-Aug-2015
Pros: Polite and friendly staff, good location
Cons: Cleanliness, room amenities, attention to detail, quality and taste of restaurant food. Needs a serious upgrade!
Location: Very close to Capital Hill and all the Embassies and High Commissions in Yarralumla.
I stayed in Room 14, for one night in August 2015. The room is old-fashioned and overused. The bed does not have a headboard and moves around. Towel had stains and bedsheet had hair on it. The air-con / heater is old enough to be decommissioned and the remote was missing the cover and yellowed from overuse. At night, the heater made such a frightful sound that it woke me up a couple of times. The shower is tiny, but so am I. My six feet tall husband would not fit in that shower though. The dinner I ordered - the only vegetarian option is a cheese and two kinds of mushroom pizza - was below average. Tiny portions, big on price and small on taste. It was brought to the room in a cardboard pizza delivery box. So I decided to go out for breakfast the next day, only to come back and find my room lying wide open. With my stuff still in it! It wasn't even check out time yet. Attention to detail here, is zero. On the plus side, the staff is super friendly. The receptionist who checked me in was very clued in and polite. The location is great if your only business in the city is to get a visa at the Embassies and High Commissions close by.

Great value for money

Posted 06-Aug-2015
Pros: Very impressed with receiving a phone call prior to arriving to check details with me - fabulous service
Cons: Mat on floor - tiles were very cold on a cold morning.
Location: Very close to parliamentary triangle, so very convenient
Very convenient location, good facilities, parking and restaurant. It is older style fittings and furnishings but clean, comfortable, not problems and excellent value

Convenient location

Posted 22-Jul-2015
Pros: Convenient location to Manuka village and central to tourist attractions. The hotel is clean and well equipped and affordable.
Cons: A community room where people can use microwave facilities, with tea coffee machine, or simply relax on a lounge.
Location: Manuka village with its trendy shops and cafes is a short walk, perfect place for breakfast, lunch and dinners. Central to many attractions by car.
We were looking for an affordable place, close to tourist hotspots, viewing the hotel, reading the reviews and seeing the photos on Expedia, helped to confirm our decision to stay here. The hotel offered free cancellation up to a certain date which planning well in advance is a reassurance. A great place to stay,, well recommended. Thanks Expedia and thank you Forrest Hotel. You made our trip all the more memorable.

Pros: Room service was great and also the breakfast
Cons: Lounge chair would be good so you don't have to sit on bed or hard dining chairs
Location: Location was great. Easy drive to Museum, War Memorial and many other places of interest.
Very comfortable bed & pillows. Had a great weekend exploring the War Memorial, Museum and Zoo

Beds too hard, too noisy

Posted 24-May-2015
Pros: Cleanliness.
While there are functional and clean rooms I will not stay here again. The beds are like boards and the rooms have very little in terms of noise dampening. Conversations in the next room could be heard and as the motel is only a few minutes walk from a restaurant and bar area the stream of returning revellers were easily heard.....and my stay was mid-week.

Good value near centre of Canberra

This was perfect for what we wanted - easy access to museums and galleries. Reception staff were friendly and check in and out were painless. Plenty of tea and coffee, replenished daily.

Classic Motel in excellent location.

Cons: Allocate parking.
I have stayed here about 40 years ago. The building is the same but rooms have been well refurbished. Fittings are good and in excellent condition. Free cable tv and wifi internet. Room was small but cosy. I would definitely recommend. The standard of cleanliness was very high.
