Overall, we had a very good stay at Hotel Vila Inglesa, but it came with one major caveat.
The property itself is absolutely beautiful, with stunning grounds, plenty of great amenities, a delicious breakfast, an excellent location, and a staff that was consistently friendly, welcoming, and eager to help.
Unfortunately, the room we originally booked was a huge disappointment. It was extremely dated, the shower only had lukewarm water, and because the shower was inside a bathtub, we had to climb in and out every time. When I mentioned the lukewarm water to the front desk, I was told that it was simply how the water was in those rooms, which I found completely unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber.
Thankfully, after I explained our concerns and requested a room with a standing shower, the front desk upgraded us at no additional cost to one of the newly built rooms. The difference was night and day. The new room was modern, spacious, beautifully designed, and completely transformed our experience. Had we remained in the older room, this trip would have been a real disappointment.
I truly appreciate the hotel’s willingness to make things right, and that’s what turned this into a positive experience.
My recommendation: Hotel Vila Inglesa is well worth staying at—but I would strongly recommend booking one of the newer rooms from the start. They’re absolutely beautiful and provide the experience you would expect from such a lovely property.
