The reason we rented this property was because we wanted a place with off road parking due to Cambridge's congested roadways. This property clearly advertises parking for a car on their premises. However, on arrival from Canada we find the city excavating the street in front of the property. We were not advised of this until the day of our arrival when he sent us an email. We had conversations with neighbors, and they knew that this work was going to be done months in advance. We got to a point where we could no longer be assured that we could gain access on to or off of the property with the car. The host did not apologize for the disruption and for the inconvenience that this situation gave us. He did offer us a parking pass so that we could search the surrounding residential streets for alternative parking. We did not find this satisfactory for our convenience and the security of our rental vehicle. We felt that we did not have any alternative but to search out other rental premises for the remainder of our stay. As for the property itself, it could use an interior paint job and general clean-up. The area carpet in the living room is very dirty and needs shampooing. And it should be noted that the spiral staircase is extremely narrow which makes carrying groceries etc. very precarious. Comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, and a great location made for a relaxing week. Our host, Paul was very kind and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. The apartment was very clean and well appointed. The location was ideal for accessing the Cambridge train station and wasn’t too bad a walk in to downtown. Paul was very responsive and accommodating.
