Large balcony and terrace all these areas a very nice place to be outdoors. The apartment has glass windows for daylight. Excellent place to watch and enjoy all-day sunshine and sunsets of the sun go down over the sea. Sleeps 6 - 3 bedrooms; one very big on-suite bedroom with private modern bathroom for 2 persons. Other 1 single bed bedroom for 1 person and other 2 single beds bedroom for 2 persons, also one 1 big sofa bed in the sitting area enough for 1 person. The road level accesses direct the ground floor into 3 bedrooms and the ground floor living, sitting area with big screen TV, kitchen with full utilities, washing machine, microwave and toaster and 2 big bathrooms. There is a big and private parking area. The apartment is facing the fabulous ocean and mountain view. The super luxurious suite is equipped with air-conditioned for fresh and hot air. Has a flat modern TV. Has a small freezer for drinks, big and modern sofas, a private dressing area and a modern bathroom with cabin shower, also access to inside the house and to the others 2 bedrooms and to the wide external relaxing area outside balcony with sitting table, chairs and sun loungers. Firstly, arco (meaning arch) is a description of the semi-circular shape the hills form; Secondly, da Calheta refers to the close proximity to the neighbouring civil parish of Calheta. This parish was one of the very first to be settled and subsequently farmed and is one of the wealthiest in artistic and patrimonial treasures. It was here that João Fernandes Andrade, known as João Fernandes do Arco settled at the end of the 15th century. He owned vast lands of wheat, sugar mills and slaves, and set up a home with a private chapel and chaplain. Arco da Calheta is mainly irrigated by a branch of the important Levada do Rabaçal and another known as Madre Grande, which has its origins in Paul da Serra. This parish’s confining limits are the civil parishes of Madalena do Mar, Canhas and Calheta. Local Tourist Attractions: Dolphin and whale watching and deep-sea fishing excursions available from Calheta marina (3 kilometres). Rabaçal (10 kilometres) is the start point for several of the most popular levada and mountain walks on the island. There are over 1400 kilometres of levada walks in Madeira with many more paths and tracks to explore taking you from 6000ft plus to sea level. Calheta and the environs: Casa das Mudas Art Centre (2 kilometres) is the third-largest cultural venue in Portugal featuring works by Dali and Sir Francis Bacon and where regular theatre, dances and artistic performances are held. It is worth visiting not only for these but also for the architecture and for the fabulous views. Calheta has one of the only two working sugar mills on Madeira, tours are available where you can sample the mill's aguardente (a grape brandy distilled from Vinho Verde grapes and aged in old port wine casks) and molasses. De boiler zou gerepareerd worden maar dit bleek de dag na aankomst toch niet het geval te zijn. Er was een elektricien geweest die dacht dat deze weer werkte...de dag erna zou er een nieuwe boiler geplaatst worden. Dit is er na mijn idee niet gedaan maar de lampjes op de boiler gaven wel de hoogste temoeratuur aan an het water was ook duidelijk warmer. Maar na 2 minuten douchen moesten we iedere 2 minuten de kraan meer naar heet draaien en na 10 minuten was er alleen nog wat lauw water en al snel koud water.Dit zal toch langer goed moeten zijn met een capaciteit van een 6 persoons huis. Als je de afwas hebt gedaan of een was hebt gedraaid begin je al met lauw water onder de douche. Het kantoor die de verhuur regelt reageerde na dag twee ook niet meer op whatsapp over de communicatie over de boiler. Wij zijn teleurgesteld helaas... ##### Sonja R.
