Secluded Mountain Top Cabin! NEW Starlink Internet!
Heartwood Gated Community with Fabulous 30 Mile Views.
***PERFECT REMOTE GETAWAY TO UNPLUG***
Serenity- More than a cabin, a home. We have spent the last 9 years here coming from North Carolina, Florida and New York. We found a place that would allow us to bring together friends and family, or just some time to ourselves. If you are looking for the same in a rural mountain retreat, welcome to Serenity. Located in Heartwood, a gated 330-acre upscale community that allows those that live and play here room to breathe. It is the only home on The street so you can enjoy your privacy and quiet. You will enjoy all the sights and sounds of a reclusive getaway including serene views of Grandfather Mountain in the distance and 4 cascading ponds just outside your door. Finally, 360-degree views from the super wide wraparound deck that allows for all the entertaining or doing of nothing that you care to. The home itself is more than 2000 square feet of living space that includes: Main floor A large well-appointed eat in kitchen Family room adjacent to the kitchen with an oversized fireplace and ample room for all size gatherings. Half bathroom. Oversized Master suite with a king size bed, a spa like restroom including a shower that includes a Steamroom feature and a Jacuzzi Tub. There is also a large walk in closet. Second Floor 2 additional bedrooms, one could be considered a Junior Suite with a new Queen bed and the other has a double and 2 twins providing plenty of room for additional guests. In between there is a spacious, well-appointed Jack and Jill Bathroom. We have a pack and play for our guests use as well as two baby gates. A cozy loft that offers a breathtaking view of Grandfather Mountain and the sun rise every morning.
But if for some reason you want to venture out, there is plenty to do. Just adjacent to the house is a covered pavilion with a restroom, electricity and fire pit. Heartwood has miles of trails and forest service roads to explore. Nearby you will find two beautiful Vineyards, Watauga Lake Winery and Villa Nove Vineyards and Farm. Watauga Lake, one of the grandest lakes in the U.S., boasts all the amenities you would expect is a short drive away. During the winter, Skiing is 45 min away at either The Sugar Mountain Resort or Beech Mountain Ski Resort. For Racing Fans, The Bristol Motor Speedway is 45 miles away. For adventurers, Off the Grid Mountain Adventures offers ATV/UTV rentals and tours, go carts and B.A.S.E jumping. Finally, ziplines that are almost 3000 Ft long and 300 Ft above the ground. Amenities include: •. STAR LINK now available! Fastest Satellite Internet Provider! Unlimited Data! • Smart TV • Cell Service • Central Air and Heat, Whole house water filtration system • Grill • Full size Washer and Dryer • Fire Pit. • Dogs welcome up to 2 maximum; leashed at all times. This is a mountain community. The last 1.5 miles of road is unpaved therefore we recommend at the very least an all wheel drive vehicle but highly encourage four wheel drive vehicles. Heartwood is located approximately 25 miles from Boone, NC and 25 miles from the Tri Cities area made up of Johnson City, Bristol and Elizabethon, TN. When using GPS, enter Elk Mills, TN for best results. We would love for you to make our home away from home, your home away from home.

Great get away, very secluded and peaceful. No issues with check in or out. Property was as advertised. Definitely recommend a 4WD vehicle, due to the steep unpaved roads.
Love staying at this cabin again. It's quiet - the master bedroom is very nice - the porch/deck is a great viewing spot. The Fall colors were beautiful. Definitely recommend.
This cabin is very comfortable, private, and a relaxing place to stay. Everything you need is provided in the kitchen and there's even wood for the fire pit. Owners were gracious to allow an early check in for us too. Overall a nice experience.
Our stay could not have been better. Excellent secluded mountain cabin, fully stocked for all of our needs. Owners provided all the information needed to make our stay trouble free. A most relaxing 3-day stay with family from Johnson City. Highly recommended!!
One of our best stays in the mountains. The cabin was clean and had a lot of amenities as well. Very peaceful and an excellent destination atop the Tennessee mountains. The owner was available and provided all that we had needed. The wrap around porch was great and provided nice views. We had many hummingbirds visiting us as we enjoyed our morning coffee on the porch. We highly recommend this cabin.

We loved this property! It was completely secluded and had beautiful surroundings. You will definitely need an SUV/truck getting to it as other reviews state so keep that in mind if booking! For us, this added to it experiencing th mountains. We will be back if the opportunity arises for us!
If you want to get away from everything and enjoy a quiet, peaceful retreat, this is the place to go. As the host warned, it is best to have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, but our friends made it with a Ford Escape w/o it. Everything was clean, well-stocked kitchen, and a nice open space to relax it. We spent much of our time on the back deck enjoying morning coffee or in the evenings playing games and enjoying a cocktail. Our dogs LOVED being there! The hosts are easy to communicate with if you need anything and were very helpful. Would have liked a better mattress in the upstairs bedroom, but that’s the only issue for us. It was a lovely stay!!

Road
The last part of the road on the cabin was pretty rough. And there was a copperhead at the top of the stairs on the back side. Then the next day there was two of them. Other than that excellent cabin. Very clean very nice
Wonderful cabin for seclusion. There are a few other rentals in the neighborhood, but they are not right next door like other cabin neighborhoods. The fireplace is great - it is the exact kind of fireplace you expect to find in a cabin. 4x4 or all wheel drive is advisable - you might can get away with front wheel drive. This adds to the secluded ambiance of the cabin. The owner is great at communicating. Wifi is good - you will have no signal on your journey to the cabin, but you'll have great service once you're in the cabin. Will stay here again.
The property is designed well and in a great location. The roads are excellent and well maintained. We had family ranging in age from 13 to 93. Everyone had a nice time.
We had a nice relaxing getaway. The cabin was mostly clean and very well stocked with everything you need. The location is easy to find using google maps but as others have mentioned,4 wheel drive is recommended. We didnt have any cell service, but the cabin has reliable wi-fi. It was a perfect vacation
We love the cabin… And the surrounding mountains. The only issue we had was the drive away going up. Very steep and windy. We had a great time in the mountains.

Brought my wife back this time - we both love it - especially the proper cabin-style fireplace - love the porch/deck. Thanks again!

Nice getaway weekend
The house is in the middle of a great little neighborhood sitting on the top of a mountain. It was well stocked with anything you might need and the porch was very relaxing. Only small complaint is that the carpets are probably near the end of their life and it would be great if there were more comfortable chairs on the porch itself.

This was a gorgeous property to stay at. Mountain views were beautiful and the cabin itself was very nice. We were very comfortable. It had a steam shower, shower, and jacuzzi. 2 and half bath and 3 bedrooms with the master on the first floor. Wrap around porch was just perfect for a peaceful sunrise. Truly loved the fire pit where we roasted hot dogs and made smores. We would definitely stay here again and for longer. The road up to the cabin was an adventure and gorgeous as well. We made it up easily with our 2 wheel drive pick up truck. Thank you for allowing us to stay at this gorgeous cabin.
We decided to take a last minute trip to take advantage of perfect skiing/snowboarding weather this past weekend and this location was perfect! Beautiful cabin with amazing sunrise views! Given the rural nature of the cabin we had to go the long way through Boone to access the mountains on Saturday but by Sunday things cleared up enough for us to take the shorter route. We hiked the nearby Twisted Falls trail on Monday morning and didn’t see anyone else the whole way down to the falls. It was a tough hike but the falls were fantastic. The hosts Rob and Carolyn were communicative and seemed willing to help had we run into any issues but everything went smoothly along the way. Would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a cabin/mountain getaway!
The good: location, remote yet not completely isolated as it’s within a community. The bad: dirty, useless amenities and furniture, lack of follow through and follow up from host. Rude.Bunk bed broken, safety hazard for kids. Bottom mattress falls through due to lack of screws to attach the frame. Son almost got hurt climbing in. Top bunk very wobbly. Needs replacement.Dirty. Dead flies everywhere, visible dust on window sills triggering allergies.Jacuzzi tub extremely dirty shooting out black debris through the jets. Unsure if it’s dirt or mold or both.Stove top visibly dirty upon arrival, borderline disgusting.Oven takes a few tries to start. Nuisance.Dishwasher not attached to counter properly, safety hazard especially for those with children. When host was presented with issues, stated he’d send his nephew out the next day to resolve some of them. Nephew never showed, host never followed up with us. When told about the issues, he told us that he’s never had these problems and to check his VRBO ratings. Very unprofessional. We paid a good amount of money for this trip and it left a lot to be desired. If I could give it a lower rating, I would. I wouldn’t stay with this host again.Oh and I had to figure out how to get to the “trash shack” to take our garbage to. Host simply told us it was 1/4 mile away. No directions whatsoever. Host left us two trash bags for a five night stay. Simply put, the host was unprepared and unprofessional.
We just arrived home after a wonderful visit. We have nothing but good things to say about both the process and the stay.
The cabin was spacious with a wonderful open kitchen/den/dining area. We cook, and the well equipped kitchen was great for us. The master bedroom is on the main floor and is very well equipped with a king bed, huge bathroom and tub, and a great closet. Best of all, all rooms on the first floor have direct access to the deck that wraps around the house.
Upstairs is a little simpler and perfect for kids or other family members. The cabin has lots of windows providing fresh air and allowing us to enjoy the cool evenings even in late June.
As others have mentioned, the gravel road to the community and the cabin is a bit better with an SUV or all wheel drive. Having grown up with dirt roads, there was never any issue even after a hard rain. The roads are well maintained - just steep and curvy. I took advantage of the hills for a good cardio walk each day - typically 1.4-1.6 miles round trip. It was a great way to start the day if you are prepared for the hills. For less hills, just start at the top of the mountain near the trash drop-off.
Stores and restaurants are very limited in the area, so plan to bring everything you need to eat or allow time for shopping or restaurants with a 35-45 minute drive. We arrived prepared and only made one trip to the store.
Overall we had a great visit thanks to our great hosts!
Cabin was perfect to get away from civilization! The road up is long, narrow, and winding. If you think your lost, your not….keep going. Was in town for a wedding so didnt get to spend as much time there as we wanted. 100% will be going back to this one.
