The tower was given this name because in the 17th century it served as a women's prison and held women who were accused and convicted of being witches. TheWater Towerwas built in 1902 in red brick. It has a capacity of 400m³. However, it is no longer used for storing water: it now houses exhibitions on the industrial history, horticulture and agriculture of the town.
