Due to the location, I do not recommend this hotel or any hotels in the neighbourhood (Anneessens/Brussels Midi area) to female solo travellers. (Yes I was a female solo traveller)
The hotel was great. Spacious and clean room. Comfortable bed. Excellent services.
But -
1/ the big construction site opposite to the hotel entrance makes the road in front of the entrance narrow and dark, and Uber only stops at the corner of the street.
2/ the neighbourhood was really full of beggars and thieves. The walk from the MIDI station to the hotel during the day (not sure about the night) was totally fine. The 15-minute walk from the hotel to the city centre was unpleasant. I was harassed by two aggressive groups of beggars who obviously targeted at my iPhone. The people kept staring at me during my walk. A male beggar harassed me “hey baby!”
3/ Uber does not help much as it only stops at the corner of the street of the hotel, meaning you still have to walk through the street yourself. I took an Uber back during my two-day stay at the hotel but felt unsafe and uncomfortable walking just on the street of the hotel at night. (Around 9pm during summer)
Conclusion: if a female solo traveller really has to travel to Brussels, I do not recommend the Brussels MIDI station area / Anneessens. The hotels may not be expensive but you have to include the Uber cost as well.
Suggestion to the hotel: would be great if shuttle buses to/from the city centre can be offered.
my stay was enjoyable. I think that breakfast time can be extended to 10.30 for people who are on holiday to rest and to avoid the room service charge. I like the decoration the fact that there is areas in reception where you can meet with others in a quite private and cosy place. staff were exceptional and cared for their customers. Sauna included in the price is a real bonus! the only disappointing thing is that currently there are ongoing work taking place just outside the hotels and I felt a bit unsafe working in the evening walking back to the hotel.
We visited Brussels for several days and stayed at this hotel. We were given a spacious room at the back of the hotel away from the ongoing works and it was amazing. It’s close to a metro stop for you to access main attractions and near the train station. There is ongoing works outside if that puts you off but we thought our room was fantastic and the staff were lovely.
