"The Mercure Hotel in Gera was good business and comuter hotel. The surroundings were a bit eerie because a lot the buildings gave off a cold and industrial feel that were remnants from the Soviet Era. The bathtub in my room was a bit high and slipped and hurt myself get out of the high bathtub. The parking was also tricky because the door to the faciity was very quick. The consierges were frendlier and provided me with an iron an ironing board to get prepared for two business meeting in the Gera and Thurigen area later that day."

"Wir hatten wundervolle Tage am See. Der direkte Zugang zum See und der Ausblick ist ein Traum. Als Zugabe ein Tretboot und SUB Boards und wir hätten sogar Tischtennis spielen können. Einrichtung geschmackvoll und gemütlich, am großen Tisch haben wir gern gesessen und auch hier den tollen Blick genossen. Leider gibt es nicht so viel Restaurants in der Umgebung und die Öffnungszeiten waren sehr eingeschränkt. Aber wenn man das weiß, kann man sich selbst entsprechend versorgen wir kommen bestimmt wieder. Vielen Dank für die Gastfreundschaft."

"Nice & clean Good staff Enough parking for a big vehicle of mine but it’s tricky to get to as it’s just before the traffic lights or after depending which way you are coming from. As it’s a sharp turn and can be easily missed."

"It’s a very decent place. Almost everything I needed during my trip. Peaceful surroundings, good beer and breakfast. I wish rooms were equipped with AC, especially during the recent heatwave but I understand for this price."

"This is a beautiful old hotel property. It has great bones and the rooms have been updated and modernized nicely. That said, there are some very quirky aspects to the property. Firstly, there is no reception - just an automated machine that provides a key card. This means that there is no one to ask about parking, amenities etc. The second thing is that no one speaks English at all. The cleaning staff was very sweet but could not speak a word. We had to use Google Translate for all interactions including ordering breakfast, asking for towels, etc. Finally, the public spaces are very austere. This seems out of place with the historic hotel. For example, there are just IKEA tables and chairs in the eating area but then there is a large open foyer on the second floor with a grand piano. But there are no chairs or couches in that room. It seems with a bit of TLC this could be a great boutique hotel and cool place to hang out. This is especially true when you consider the location right across the street from the historical theatre where we attended the International Ballet Festival."

"The room was very clean and in great condition. The bed was super comfy and the pillows were nice and plush. The closet was a huge walk in style so I was able to unpack and not have to feel like living out of a luggage bag. I loved the in room refrigerator. The shower was powerful and luxurious. Internet connected easy and was a good speed for working. Being an American speaking English only all staff was kind and spoke English for me. I felt right at home."
