Just a one-mile walk from Flamborough’s magnificent lighthouse, these former agricultural barns, estimated to date back approximately 200 years, have been skillfully converted retaining many original features and exposed roof timbers. The location of these cottages affords far-reaching views, yet close to local amenities; each one has its own sitting-out area complete with garden furniture and with underfloor heating at ground level the holiday cottages remain cosy all year round. Built in 1860, the lighthouse stands guard atop the chalk cliff, as a silent sentinel, protecting shipping off Flamborough Head, and tours are available throughout the summer. The headland overlooks Selwick’s Bay, where visitors can stroll along the chalk paths descending to the sand and gravel beach with its fascinating rock pools. Flamborough Head Golf Course, 3/4 mile, offers a warm welcome for both golfers and diners in their clubhouse and another cliff top course can be found at Bridlington Links, 3 miles. The spectacular chalk cliffs to the north, with their panoramic views, are home to one of the largest nesting seabird colonies in England - RSPB Bempton. The quaint village of Flamborough itself is steeped in a history of piracy, shipwrecks and smuggling. The Heritage Coastal resorts of Bridlington, Filey, and Scarborough are all easily accessible. Shops, pubs and restaurants 3/4 mile.

We have recently enjoyed a few days stay at The Ploughmans Cottage and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
We have recently enjoyed a few days stay at The Ploughmans Cottage and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The Cottage is set in a lawned Courtyard with picnic bench for your use. It was too cold for a BBQ so we didn't ask the Owners for one. The Owners live onsite, and sounded very friendly and approachable on the phone. The Cottage is comfortable and warm. Everything you need is there for you. Clean Bedding, Towels and T. Towels. Car parking. The wider area is lovely. The Headlands Cafe at Flamborough Head has fabulous views of the Lighthouse and Cliffs, and the Food and Cakes were lovely too. Bempton Cliffs is fabulous for RSPB Bird watching. Sewerby Hall & Gardens for a leisurely stroll for a bit of History and Sea views, or a run/walk/cycle into Bridlington along the sea front. There are shops in the Village, a P.O. a Butchers, Chippy's and Pubs. We would definitely recommend the Cottage again. Also they have more Cottages to Holiday Hire. Thank you for a lovely Stay.

A nice cottage as described.
A nice cottage as described. As other reviews have mentioned, the accommodation would benefit from an upgrade in some areas - e.g. TV, Wi-Fi, PAT testing and visitor information (very out of date). Perfect for a few nights.

Lovely location, nice friendly owners.
Lovely location, nice friendly owners. Could perhaps have been a little cleaner but overall was great. Kettle leaked badly and couple of sharp knives had loose or broken handles however we managed without any great difficulties. Would go back so that’s probably the best recommendation.

What a wonderful place to stay, very clean and comfortable accommodation, everything you could possibly want within the accommodation. Incredibly spacious for 3 people. Very peaceful setting. Only ever stayed in caravans in the past with our dog, but this has changed my mind totally. Will definitely use this again.

The location is perfect as a base for a lot of areas.
The location is perfect as a base for a lot of areas. The walks around are lovely. Attention to detail in the cottage needs improving, for example a few things that had been broken had been poorly repaired, when they were very cheap items to replace. Cheese grater, coat hangers and mirror.
