Dog friendly and 5 minutes to Pleasant Mountain! Come stay and play at The Bear’s Den in West Bridgton, Maine! Important update!! VRBO has incorrectly advertised this property as lakefront. We have informed them of their error, but it is has not been corrected. We have access to the lakefront, but we are not located directly on the water. The same goes for the scenic views VRBO has also stated we have. We apologize for any confusion about this property that they may have caused. We are hopeful they will correct their errors very soon. Nestled snuggly in the woods of the Knights Hill Association, this home is situated on a wooded half-acre lot. Featuring 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, it can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests. (We also have an additional two cots with sleeping bags, and two pack and plays with mattresses and bedding for them, as well.) From its rough-hewn boards to its modern kitchen, this home is an absolute delight. Our previous guests have described it as feeling like they were in a tree house, while others have said they feel as if the house welcomed them with a warm hug. There is something very special about The Bear’s Den and the location is perfect for experiencing all the wonderful amenities from the Lakes Region of Maine to the White Mountains of New Hampshire! We have an automatic whole house generator, so you will never be without power and hot water should there ever be a power outage. The hot water is also on demand. That means that dishwasher can be running, while both bathrooms are in use (including the jetted tub), even if there is a load of laundry in the washer. Perfect after a fun day on the slopes, hiking, or a day at the beach! We are a pet friendly home. We welcome up to two well-behaved dogs to accompany you during your stay. A friendly reminder that Bridgton has a leash law, and that the association does not allow pets on the beach or around the pool area. The Knights Hill Association Moose Pond beach, playground, and clubhouse are just down the street. Less than a 10-minute walk or 2-minute car ride. We have two kayaks available at the beach for your use during the summer months. The outdoor association pool, clubhouse, playground, and tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts are located across the street and available for use in the warmer months, too. They are also less than a 10-minute walk or 2-minute car ride. Hop in your car and you are only 5 minutes from the base of Pleasant Mountain. Hiking and biking in the warmer months and skiing and snowboarding in the winter months. There are also plenty of places to snowshoe, cross-country ski, and (ice) fish, around the Moose Pond area. Warm up at the end of the day with a meal or s’mores around the firepit, soak in the jetted tub in the main floor bathroom, and/ or curl up on the downstairs couch in front of the gas fireplace. Whatever your pleasure, The Bear’s Den is a delightful four-season retreat! We can’t wait for you to book your stay with us and see for yourself! We had a family vacation with 4 children aged 5 years and under and this rental had everything we needed. It was so nice not to worry about bringing big items like high chairs and pack and plays. Everything was set out for us including boosters and guards for the bunk beds. The kids loved having their room set up for them. The kitchen had everything we needed and we were very happy with the overall cleanliness of the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry area. Best family friendly home from beginning to end !! What can I say the owners thought of everything plus some! Kids paradise! Dog heaven! After a cold icy winter we all enjoyed the spring skiing and pleasant mountain did not disappoint!! Great neighborhood for walking and playground for kids and views of mountains !! The hosts were truly wonderful and very accommodating to our schedule. We were organizing a trip with teenagers, which can be challenging but the hosts were very understanding. The location is out of a fairytale, beautiful, comfortable, and very clean. The hosts have thought of every detail from s’mores and jiffy popcorn for the fire pit, to toothbrushes and anything you might forget they had covered. There were so many activities for adults and teenagers. The pool and tennis courts were a real hit. Even our dogs had fun once they settled down. We would book again in a heartbeat. It is clear that the hosts put a great deal of thought and effort into the guest experience. The house was incredibly warm and welcoming and had everything you could imagine. In fact, it was the best equipped house I have ever rented! The kids enjoyed the books, toys, and games, as did the adults! The whole experience was just wonderful. Sindi and Doug have done a remarkable job including everything you could possibly need or want on vacation! We drove in and saw the nice lights outside creating a warm feeling already. When we went inside we realized the house had everything all the reviews stated. We were really pleased to find a bunch of firewood cut and covered with plenty of kindling and fire starter. We all enjoyed karaoke, shuffle board, and air hockey! Thank you to Doug for coming in such short notice to fix the back door handle and to grab our trash and recycling in the middle of our trip. Everything you needed was at The Bear Den, and everything you didn’t think you needed. Our kids ages 6, and 9) didn’t want to leave. The Bear’s Den is a delightful home and we loved every minute of our stay. The owners really leaned into the bear theme, there are bears everywhere in a really delightful way. The firepit out back was the perfect spot to relax and hangout as a group. The lake that we had access too was beautiful! Our trip was in the fall and it was chilly but we couldn’t resist some fishing and kayaking/paddlebording at the lovely spot. We also appreciated that there was a good size deck on the front as well as a screened in porch on the back.The house has everything you could want and we really enjoyed our stay. ##### Joyanna F. The owners have put a lot of thought into little details (like automatic stair tread lights) and have made sure the renters would not be in need of a thing; there was a variety of shampoo/soaps/medical items, ingredients for s'mores and plenty of wood, the kitchen had every gadget and appliance as well as coffee/tea//creamer/sugar. The welcome binder was helpful and clear. Owners were quick to welcome us beforehand and quick to respond with any questions. Easy check in and out. Great location and neighborhood. The property is lovely and cozy, as is the house. Their effort to welcome kids was certainly noticed and the kids enjoyed the games, toys, night lights, bath bubbles. Our parents owned vacation homes and we would travel to Knights Hill for weekends, school vacation weeks, summers. We were all from different towns in Massachusetts; Beverly, Braintree, Walpole. It was the late 1970s through the 1980s. No cell phones low tech, good clean fun! Our trip to the Bears Den was our second of what will not doubt be many reunions. We are older now, gray haired (those that still have their hair that is) but no less hardcore, still a very tight fun loving group. We very much enjoyed the accommodations, clean, warm excellent in every way. It was a perfect setup for our group of 7\. Ample bedding, great outdoor firepit, a grill. Nothing additional needed, truly turn key. Sindi and Doug are awesome!!! The Bears Den is best in class for a weekend or longer getaway! It has everything you could need. My kids loved the bill room and toys provided by the host. We read a new book each night from their book bin. They loved the chess set too.
