  • Villa Matija is nestled comfortable into the hillside overlooking Brewers Bay.

    Allow yourself a little luxury and be eco-friendly at the same time! Villa Matija (pronounced ma-TEE-ya) sits above Brewers Bay with an outstanding view of Jost Van Dyke and several other smaller cays & islands. On a clear day you can see Puerto Rico (about 70 miles away)!

    Stay at Villa Matija and enjoy the beauty and comfortable climate of the Caribbean with all the comforts of home at your fingertips. Villa Matija is very comfortable for up to four people. The house has two master suites only, one with a private deck & outdoor shower, the other with direct access to the villa's porch, deck & plunge pool. The downstairs bedroom can be set up with a king size bed or two twins. This makes Villa Matija ideal for two couples or a family of four. A modern kitchen and home theatre/living room with a 55" TV make it a great place to stay home and relax. Generous outdoor space flows effortlessly inside giving the feel of being outside while inside or the other way around if you prefer (great when there's a passing rain shower!)

    Villa Matija is partially powered with solar energy using two solar hot water panels and twelve photovoltaic (PV) panels. Instead of a generator powered by fossil fuel Villa Matija has an alternative energy system that can run the house for modest amounts of time with little attention and quite some time with careful energy management. And don’t worry, our solar hot water is backed up by a traditional hot water heater that provides an abundant supply of hot water whatever time of day you need to shower. While both bedrooms have air conditioning, we encourage our guests to leave the windows open at night with the fan on and the AC off to experience the local climate. Most evenings are cool with very pleasant sleeping weather.

    Brewers Bay beach, one of the most beautiful in the BVI, is just a 3 minute drive down the hill. Cane Garden Bay, another favorite BVI beach, is a short 10 minute drive. Road Town, the capital of the BVI is also a 10 minute drive away, yet when you’re at Villa Matija, you feel like you’re in another world!

    Enjoy the beaches, snorkeling or just lounge at the house. Whatever you decide to do, you’ll be glad you chose Villa Matija as your home when you visit the BVI.

What a view!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in Tortola. The hosts met to escort us to the house to ensure we found it. The house was well stocked with anything you need. We especially enjoyed having breakfast with the best views we found on the island. We would stay here again if our travels bring us to BVI in the future.

Our stay, was exactly how we thought it would be…. Beautiful. Homeowners Thomas and Jessica lead us to the Villa, and explained anything we had questions about. The house was very clean, comfortable, and had the most amazing view. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer stay, and again the owners were two of the nicest people we have ever met.

Great Brewers Bay stay!

Loved the property/location! 5 min drive to the beach at Brewers Bay. Great outside space at the house with amazing views- particularly sunset! Tom was a great host- our plane in was late and he was great about meeting us later to take us up to the house. We like to cook and the kitchen was well equipped! Pool was awesome as well! Easy to get into Road Town for provisions/shopping. Perfect location if you like quiet and peaceful!

A view to die for!

Tom as a host was great! Great communication and just a friendly human. The house was great! Other than needing to stain some weathered exterior woodwork, the house fantastic. The house comes well equipped with everything you need for a stay. Thank again Tom and family!

Great Place - Post Charter

Nice home with a great view. Everything worked which was a plus. We brought our Apple lightning plug to HDMI converter so we could watch TV. The hosts were wonderful and communicated well. Make sure your rental car has enough power… steep hills to and from the house. Like most homes in the islands, there is a little deferred maintenance, but overall the house was clean and well equipped. Relaxing stay and would stay there again.

Very accurate description. Delightful sunset views. Hire car essential, preferably SUV, we had requested one but were downgraded on arrival and an intermediate is not suitable for BVI roads!! Tom’s driveway is steep and, through no fault of his, we grounded out so ended up parking our car in the gateway! Loved Brewers Bay beach, we preordered groceries from Riteway which worked very well. Would highly recommend Capprccio Di Mare for great pasta in Road Town, doesn’t look special from the outside but food was great, as was Tramonti at the Sugar Mill. Would definitely return.

Perfectly stunning.

Tom greeted us immediately after departing the ferry. He gave us a choice of the scenic route or direct to the villla, we opted for the direct route. Be prepared for a drive filled with switch backs and intense incline grades. Upon arrival our immediate response to the villa was simply breath taking. The outside area arund the villa is secluded enough to make you feel immediately relaxed, while the light breeze and distant rolling waves keep your attention on the beautiful Brewers Bay below. The villa is also centrally located on the island so it is an easy commute to all the beaches and restaurants. Tom was attentive to our questions and concerns with ferry schedules and restaurant suggestions. We enjoyed our stay at this postcard worthy retreat!

The host, Tom, was excellent. He met us at the airport, even though our flight was 2 hours late, and lead us to the Villa. The views of Brewer's Bay from the deck are amazing. Villa Matija was welcoming and comfortable from the moment we arrived. From relaxing by the pool to breakfast and dinner on the patio, we enjoyed every minute. Tom was quick to respond to questions and requests. He gave us some great suggestions for adventures and tips to make our stay even better. We highly recommend Villa Matija with Tom and Jessica as hosts and Tortola is a beautiful island getaway.

Great location. Nice and quiet & private. House needs some maintenance…. Many doors, screens, and windows don’t shut, which allow bugs and sounds in. Fixtures / kitchen well equipped. However NO Hot Water throughout our stay. Owner said solar was out but failed to mention that we would have no hot water during our stay!

Great Location on Tortola

Great stay from start to the end! Great location and unbeatable view. Easy access to Brewers bay and Cane Garden bay. The House was very clean and well maintained which is tough in a tropical environment. The host Tom met us in Road Town and guided us to the house, which was much appreciated! Great rental with beautiful views

The Villa is in good shape. We had an immediate issue with the air conditioning but repair crew was sent immediately and it was resolved. Having said that, the A/C was rarely used as the house catches great breezes at night. There are steps throughout as is typical for a Tortola property but something to consider with small children or the elderly. Kitchen well stocked and nothing was needed. Property well taken care of and would happily rent here again.

If you have ever traveled to places and wondered about the beautiful Villas way up in the hills, with swimming pools that hand off the side of the cliff, and balconies with endless Ocean views then this is your chance to stay in one of those magnificent places. Everything was wonderful! Tom and Jessica and cute little Max were very attentive to all our needs. Beach Chairs, towels, linens provided all the comforts of home without having to lug extra stuff along. The breeze from the cliff above Brewers Bay provided endless refreshing bug less nights. We never used the AC. This villa is extremely private, and if you don't skinny dip in the pool you have not lived! Loved our stay, loved our massages from Kim, loved the grocery store that delivers, and loved Brewers Bay Beach and also discovered Josiahs Bay Beach... I did however have a little too much fun at the Bomba Shack, it made for a very long day of travel. I went out with a bang! Thanks Tom and Jessica for making our stay perfect in every way! Can't wait to return, especially now that I know how to find the villa in the night!
