Hiking
There are so many amazing hiking trails in the area. Some of our favorites: Dupont State Forest
If some light hiking and waterfalls are what you're looking for, then Dupont State Forest should be your destination. This is where we first took Lola for a hike after she came into our lives. Bonus: It's also where the first Hunger Games movie was filmed!
Frying Pan
This is a nice short hike up an easy forest service road to a lookout tower. 1.5 miles roundtrip, with 360 degree views at the top.
Black Balsam
Some of the most popular hiking in the area. This can be a short out-and-back, or a nice loop. Choose your own adventure!
Looking Glass
Venture down to our little town of Brevard to check out this more strenuous hike to the top of one of the most unique and iconic geographic features of our area. A great 6.5 mile hike.
Art Loeb
If you're going to be spending more than just the weekend in the area and are looking for a challenge, you can give the 30.1-mile Art Loeb trail a try. We've done it twice now, taking 3 days/2 nights each time to backpack it. Let us know if this is up your alley and we'll share some valuable advice about confusing intersections and water sources! Enjoy nearby Pisgah Forest: 15 minute drive: Home of the nation’s first school of forestry where you can picnic, camp, hike, rock climb, fish, swim, slide, float, hunt, bike, mountain bike, ride your horse, rent a horse, learn about forestry, find waterfalls, sightsee, experience the NC Fish Hatchery, navigate the Blue Ridge Parkway, or just relax! Brevard features expert outdoor guides for every level of outdoor experience. Whether you are with your family for a picnic, taking a day hike or looking for something more challenging, there is adventure for everyone. The Hub, Sycamore Cycles and Pura Vida Adventures are located right at the entrance to the forest. You are guaranteed to find whatever level of adventure you are after. Take an easy day hike or go more extreme with kayaking, rock climbing or canyoneering.
Dupont State Forest: 20 Minute Drive: Explore Triple, Bridal Veil, Hooker, High and Wintergreen Falls. Cedar Rock Mountain with its hundreds of acres of exposed granite makes it a popular destination for Bikers and Hikers! DuPont offers mountain biker ride opportunities ranging from easy forest roads to exciting single track. All trails are open to horses except for Triple Falls Trail and a few foot trails that are clearly marked. You can also take a Hunger Games Tour and feel like Katniss Everdeen for a day.

What a charming and lovely home. We had everything we needed. The place was spotless when we arrived. The beds were comfortable. It was nice to have 1.5 bathrooms. And it is within walking distance of town.
We've stayed here several times and have enjoyed them all. This is a great house and location. Clean, well appointed and great location. Will stay again.
This was a beautiful home, just a short walk from restaurants and shops. We loved relaxing in this home after hiking. We would definitely stay here again!
We enjoyed our stay very much! Love the town of Brevard. The home was so accommodating and very clean. Closely located to the downtown area and great restaurants. Highly recommend this quaint home.
The place was AMAZING!!! The inside was so cozy. The front porch was great for coffee and conversation. It was well stocked and just too cute. Also, being able to walk our dog downtown and walk to restaurants was so nice. Look forward to staying here again in the future.
We had an excellent trip to Brevard and really enjoyed the cottage. It had tons of space and everything you could need for a weekend away. Love that we could walk to lots of shops and dining options. We would definitely recommend and return.
My husband and I loved this house! The location was very convenient and we were so happy to find a place to spend the holidays that allowed us to bring our dogs. The owner is great to work with!
I highly recommend this house!
This charming, renovated bungalow within walking distance of downtown Brevard was a great homebase for exploring the area. It was clean and had everything we could possibly need. The host was easy to work with. We would definitely return in the future!
We've stayed here before and it's even better than the last time. This really is a gem of a house. Short walk to downtown and pretty quiet considering it's on a main street. All the amenities are there. Will definity stay there again. Thanks for a great stay.
Absolutely loved this home! So charming & stocked with everything we needed. We loved walking out the front door right into downtown as well as taking a short drive to the Davidson river & exploring around on the trails with our dogs.
Will definitely return in the future.
I stayed a week in Brevard at this house. It’s very clean, comfortable and well appointed, within walking distance of downtown and easy driving distance to hiking, biking and fishing at DuPont or Pisgah Forest. Highly recommend.
This house is in a great location to get to everything downtown Brevard. The house is beautiful and quaint. The owner has everything you need for a top notch vacation. The front porch is so welcoming. We enjoyed hanging out there enjoying a cocktail. The kitchen had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable. The bath linens were plentiful and good quality. Like I said, perfect!
This is a wonderfully kept bungalow just steps from all that Brevard has to offer. The front porch is a great place for morning coffee, afternoon rest and evening glass of wine. Everything you need is there. Very comfortable for 2 couples. Yes there is road noise but you quickly get used to it. This is our 4th or 5th stay and we'll be back.
Very nice; host gave needed info( code to home, Wi-Fi username) in timely fashion; beds comfortable; home well appointed, clean and nicely updated. Close to downtown. Only negative home is located on Main Street so traffic noise throughout day. Noise does not extend thruout night so able to sleep well. People accustomed to city noises( small cities) will probably barely notice. Would stay again.
Great location! Easy walking distance to everything in town. Suzie was a great host, making herself available if we needed anything. But we needed nothing, as the home was in perfect shape and had everything we needed for an enjoyable week in Brevard.
We enjoyed the homy comforts of the Brown Eyed Susie. The beds were comfortable, kitchen fully equipped and the entire home was clean with quality appointments. The location is on a busy street making it noisy. We recommend its convenient location to all Brevard and surroundings are have to offer.
