We chose the Villa Missalia because of its location close to the Musee d'art contemporain; it is within walking distance. We also walked to the beach, which was lively for a Sunday in November! The hotel itself is new and upscale, pretty but somewhat generic and not especially charming or French. Our room was perfectly comfortable. The restaurant was excellent, with delicious (French) food and attentive service.
Arrived early, the room wasn't ready so we went to the pool. Staff were very nice and accommodating.
Luggage in a locked room just in front of the reception.
The room was available before intended time.
Kids should be to be attended at the pool as it's deep, I think a child has to be about 5 years old to touch the shelf at the shallowest end.
Across the road there is shopping centre with coffee/ food shops, etc.
Wifi in the room is free, not the fastest in the world, but there's TV with lots of channels including English, Italian and Spanish.
It's a really nice modern hotel that I would recommend highly.

Clean hotel, friendly staff, close to local beach, cafe, restaurants and bus stops. Hotel served a nice buffet breakfast with variety of foods for reasonable price of €7. Had a nice view of beach from my window too!
"For what we wanted to do, this was an excellent hotel."
We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights as it was close to Mazargues where we were involved in family research. If you wanted to use this hotel to visit the tourist sites of Marseille, you will find it less convenient, although public transport is so good that it really is no problem to commute into town (approx 25 mins to downtown, bus 23 or 45 to Rond Point du Prado, then metro. The nearest local beaches are a 25 minute walk or short bus ride, the bus stops and big supermarket are close by. Staff were friendly and helpful, the apartment excellent with a nice sunny patio and very quiet. The only negatives were the hard bed and the advertised Restaurant which was permanently closed! First time entry to the Residence is via a key panel if the door is locked- press "Appeler" to contact reception, once you have a key, everything is easier. Would not recommend using a car in the city unless you like permanent gridlock. Overall this was an excellent hotel/apartment which we would be happy to use again.
