This was the absolute perfect spot for our Family get together! The main house is perfect for the "hub" and preparing and eating meals together. There is a great "bar" area also for hanging out and playing games as a family etc. The property is located in a beautiful area with views that are just stunning. It is a bit away from town, but you will not find a location like this anywhere else! The owner was very accessible and on top of everything! There are cornhole board, a dart board, and ping pong table and may things for people to do for fun.
This was a great place for a large family gathering. We had 12 in our group but it can hold many more as noted in the listing. Perfect location for access to the Tetons and nicer than staying in Jackson which is so busy. And we got to have family meals together played games etc. highly recommend this property. Alison was very responsive to any questions we had. Thanks for making our family vacation so special!!
This place is perfect for large groups that want to vacation together but also have your own space. A few issues with cleanliness, but Allison and the on-site property manager were VERY responsive and helpful. We were able to take advantage of fishing in the river - they really do have a little something for everyone. Would stay again!
Quiet, clean, comfortable, and well stocked ranch. Having the separate cabins was a big plus for us. It’s a bit outside of Jackson on the opposite side as GTNP but the drive is very scenic and not too bad. The main kitchen didn’t have pictures as of when we stayed there but it has two professional style stoves, massive stand alone refrigerator and a separate freezer which made cooking for our large group easy. Great for large groups and we would definitely stay here again.
Our stay at Black Powder Guest Ranch was spectacular!! All the cabins were so cute & perfect for everyone to have their own space + all the space in the main house. Everything was clean & the kitchen space was amazing with such a large group there. We had some very clear nights to be able to stargaze & see the milky way. Allison was quick to reply when I sent her a message. This is the place to be if you want to be in proximity to Jackson/Grand Teton NP. Thank you for such a beautiful space & background!
There were 21 family members in attendance for our family reunion. Everyone was so happy with the setting and accommodations. The lodge was the perfect gathering place for all of us and the kitchen was more than adequate for preparing meals. We all having the Hoback River on the property. The Elkhorn Bar and Restaurant was a real western experience with great food and a short drive away.
Allison was a fantastic host and we were even able to add a night at the lodge for my parents. Chip, the property manager was welcoming and kind. The lodge was everything we needed and more! We cooked breakfast and dinner for our entire family for 4 days and everyone had plenty of space. The kitchen was great! The cabins were adorable. Everything was clean and comfortable. The cozy, relaxed environment was exactly what we were looking for to bring out families together over our wedding weekend. Thank you so much!!
From the first time I contacted Allison she was very helpful, accommodating and friendly. It's difficult to coordinate a family reunion with 6 families, 20 adults and 6 children and there are a lot of questions that come up along the way. She was always very responsive and happy to help. Chip, the property manager was also a great guy taking care of a few things that came up on our 5 night stay. The entire family said we could not have picked a better property for our reunion. The kitchen is large with dual stoves and ovens, a commercial fridge and large standing freezer. There is a commercial ice maker. Tons to do on property with ping pong, horseshoes, corn hole and the kids all went fishing multiple times a day and caught plenty. Bedding comfortable. A wonderful stay!
We needed a place that would accommodate 20 people and this place fit the bill. It is very far from Jackson and Grand Teton National park, but we still thought it was great. Extra time and planning made it all work. Everyone had what they needed and room to spare. The kitchen is very well equipped and we were able to host a dinner for all that were staying there. I would say the only downfall of this place is cell service. There isn’t any, which made communicating with our group difficult. But if you want to unplug and enjoy the beauty of this area, I recommend it.
Our extended family had a lovely stay at Black Powder Ranch. The property is rustic and has a lot of character. We enjoyed the lodge the best! Plenty of room for all of us to hang out, cook dinner, & play games. It was also the best location for Wi-Fi. The Hot Springs are close by, Jackson Hole is only 30 min away, Grand Tetons about 1 hour away, and Yellowstone is about 2 hours away. The distance didn’t bother us because the scenery is gorgeous. We spent our days traveling to the National Parks and our evenings hanging out at the ranch (chatting on the porch, playing ping pong or axe throwing, making smores in the fire pit, walking the property, etc.)
The property manager, Allison, was great at responding to our questions & making sure we had everything we needed. Great place to stay if you have a large group!
What an incredible property. Location was perfect, and we had so much space and room for our large group. Easy check in process and great host. Would recommend to anyone looking to visit Jackson!
We had such a fun and relaxing stay at the ranch- it was stunning and so cozy!! No one had any complaints and we all had a great time. All of the cabins are fully stocked with everything you need and more. The property manager was very kind and helpful!Highly recommend!
Kitchen had everything we needed and more! All the cabins we unique and worked well for our group. Enjoyed the deck, the fire pit and Chip the caretaker was helpful and kind.
THE BEST WEEKEND AT BLACK POWDER!!! We couldn’t possibly have loved it more here and can’t wait to come back & book again. I booked for myself and 25 girlfriends to spend a long weekend exploring the Wyoming wilderness and it was the perfect “headquarters”. Comfortable & plentiful beds, cute and nicely-furnished cabins, an expansive kitchen where we could work large meals for all, and of course the privacy and views we sought. Stargazing and yoga on the top deck, field day games in the yard, long conversations on the porch…a truly special place!
We really enjoyed our stay here. It was great to have the cabins as separate spaces. We spent a bit of time on the deck watching the birds and horses. It was a little closer to the highway than I had expected, but we didn't really notice it. Enjoyed the game room and river. We would definitely come back!
We loved our stay! Great for groups. Easy access to Jackson. The cleaning crew needs some attention as there was a cabin that was not clean and that needed plumbing work. But overall we were really pleased and would come again!
We had a wonderful experience at Black Powder Ranch!! It was so close to Jackson and Teton National Forest. It is rustic but that is part of the charm. We had plenty of room for all who could come and having the smaller cabins gave everyone a sliver of privacy.
Black Powder Guest Ranch - A Great Place for a Vacation
The Black Powder Guest Ranch was all it was promised to be and just what we were looking for as a large family vacation spot. It was close enough to Jackson to access activities there but far enough away to provide privacy for our extended family group. We fished, we cooked, we played outdoor and indoor games, and we told stories by the campfire. The drive into Jackson was a beautiful drive which made each trip easy. The ranch had all the supplies necessary to facilitate our group. The kitchen in the main lodge was updated and very functional. The beds in all the cabins and lodge were comfortable. Everyone slelt well. Overall, this ranch provided our group a fantastic place to stay and play.
all in all really nice place. They did not mention all the pine trees on the mountains had burned from fire I think in 2016. The main grill at lodge only had one propane bottle so could only use half of large grill and had loose connection. The cabin I stayed in had NO silverware The lodge was wonderful except for the musty odor and the back area of kitchen where deep freeze is was not in very good shape and "taped" off for no use. overall it was nice and I would go back making sure a few of these downsides were taken care of before arrival
My husband and I booked the Black Powder Guest Ranch to host a reunion with our friends. The weekend was a wonderful time to reconnect and enjoy beautiful Wyoming. The Ranch is a stunning property with so much to offer. The main building had enough space to accommodate our group of 27 for meals and games in the dining and living areas. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking supplies and the commercial grade fridge and stoves were a life saver! All of our friends slept wonderfully in their beds and many enjoyed the spa-like treatment in the downstairs steam shower. The on site manager Chip was kind and helpful as was Allison. She answered all of my questions prior to arrival and checked in on our day of check in. I can’t recommend the Black Powder Guest Ranch enough. We didn’t want our weekend to end, and should we plan another reunion in Wyoming we will surely be back to the Ranch!

Unhooked and unwound
The property is located in an absolutely beautiful area. A good place to unhook and unwind ..we had 21 family members, rented entire ranch for 7 days and nights; cooked almost all our meals at the ranch..relaxed, played games, enjoyed watching the hummingbirds, robins, horses in pasture next door; loved the stream out back; and just totally refreshed our minds! We were close enough to Jackson to enjoy some time there and visited the Elkhorn Bar and CStore for a fabulous burger lunch-good food and fast, friendly service..highly recommend..would have liked to visit there again on a Friday or Saturday night..bet it’s a hoppin place! The property is right on the highway and, seemed, at least to some of us-a very busy highway, but not an issue.
The property is definitely Rustic, as listed; our guys had to clean the grill at the main lodge before we could use it, the other two grills are unusable. The main lodge and cabins could use a deep, thorough cleaning and the freezer definitely needs a defrosting. Perhaps the cleaning crew needs more time; we had issues with mice in two cabins; and if you are staying for any length of time, bring all you may need as there are no extras provided-the kitchen has a huge refrigerator and adequate place settings; a couple of the tables need repair as the leaves won’t stay up which would allow them to seat more people.
All in all-we enjoyed our stay - we were looking for a place “off the grid” so to speak, and it fit the bill for us .
