Its name, "A Stone's Throw", is apt, since it is in walking distance of shops and restaurants in the town. The host was extremely friendly and welcoming. Her restaurant recommendations were excellent, and we discovered that Blowing Rock and Banner Elk are definitely foodie destinations. The place was immaculate, and the owner really put a lot of love and care in all the decor - inside AND outside. Everywhere we looked, there were unique eye-catching details. She even had some Halloween decorations up. The yard was beautifully landscaped and well maintained. You can't beat the location. Just a short walk to Main Street and anywhere you wanted to go in the town of Blowing Rock. The truck seldom left the driveway the whole time we were there. It has so many details like the old wood doors with metal doorknobs and key holes. Reclaimed wood and material throughout. Many of the rooms reminded me of my grandparent's farmhouse. That night, snuggled under the warm quilts....I reminisced of all those wonderful summers spent on the farm because the bedroom so reminded of my old room. It was comforting and enjoyable. The exterior landscaping, porch, and yard are equally maintained for an enjoyable experience. We loved the firepit at night. Once the metal covering is removed, simply turn on the timer. Instant coziness. It was quite chilly that night, but we were warm by the fire. We enjoyed all the seasonal decorations inside and outside. Unfortunately, we needed to return home for personal reasons. Karen was very accommodating. I believe she is an excellent host and offers a great property for guests to enjoy. I will comment that old houses make noises due to normal conditions of aging. Such as old floors creaking. That is the experience. The antiques will charm you while the modern plumbing, fixtures, and kitchen will pamper you. ##### M P.
