Top Blackbrook House Hotel Reviews
Delta Hotels by Marriott Breadsall Priory Country Club
8/10 Good
"Lovely location, staff very friendly and helpful, food was very good. Lots of options at breakfast. Warning for people with mobility issues-lots and lots of stairs to get around the place. Indoor pool was very stuffy and humid. Very well appointed gym. Beds could’ve been more comfortable. The mattress pad doesn’t go to the edges which isn’t so great with two people in the double. Nice touch having free apples, biscuits and water at reception."
Makeney Hall Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"We stayed here for our 28th Wedding Anniversary - and this was our first visit back since we had our wedding reception there! On arrival we were upgraded to the bridal suite - where we had stayed all those years before. It was a fantastic gesture and we had a wonderful stay. Breakfast fantastic and beautiful gardens. Staff excellent."
The Hurt Arms
10/10 Excellent
"The Hotel was great. We arrived around 8pm and did not have an evening meal but breakfast was fantastic. Room was spotless and had recently been refurnished to a high standard. Access was via a steep staircase so anyone with mobility issues may struggle. The only criticism was that the hotel is located on a very busy road junction so traffic noise continued all night and many large noisy lorries using the road. Also a railway track across the road so trains rumbling passed. Rooms on the back of the hotel may not hear this but room 2 was very noisy all night."
The Strutt Arms

Character cottage (18c) on the edge of historic Belper
10/10 Excellent
"Great cottage, well equipped and perfect location for our visit, to celebrate a birthday party in town. Fabulous walks from the door step too.Thank you."
Sunshine Apartment
10/10 Excellent
"As a returning guest, it was a pleasure to come back again to the Sunshine Apartment. The owners and the team that run the accommodation are so kind and wish for you to have a perfect stay. The apartment is in a lovely area. I particularly enjoy the two big smart TVs in the lounge and bedroom when staying. The powerful hot shower. The peacefulness of the isolated apartment gives you maximum chance to relax. I look forward to returning once again in the future. "
The Bear Inn
10/10 Excellent
"The staff at The Bear Inn are terrific: it’s a family-run business and nothing was too much trouble. You soon will get to know everyone’s name a they will remember yours; it’s the little things that set a small country Inn apart from the bigger and soulless enterprises. Check-in was easy and, although we originally planned to stay for a couple of days, we were made so welcome, decided to stay for two more. Our day always started with an excellent and leisurely breakfast which really set us up for a day of exploring and visiting attractions. There is lots to see and do in the local area; you can dive underground into some of the local guided cave attractions, ride in vintage cars, trams and trains, or fly through the air in a cable car. Back at The Bear Inn and after a full day out, you can wind down with the delights of a superb and varied menu, all washed down with well kept ale. The Bear Inn is a really old coaching house, steeped in history; lots of small rooms with exposed beams and fireplaces, make for a cozy and comfortable place to stay or just eat out. So, the next time we looking for places to stay in Derbyshire, The Bear Inn is right at the top our list. "
