Wonderful home, exactly as pictured. Wonderful stocked kitchen including an extensive spice drawer. Very comfortable beds and pillows. There was an iron , but we did not locate the ironing board. We made due! Great A/C and water pressure- we never ran out of hot water, assuming due to the tankless water heater. The views were amazing. Each morning the sunrise was more spectacular than the previous. The road is steep, but we did not have to use 4wheel drive. Your vehicle will get extremely dirty with the gravel road. We found Ingles grocery store to have all we needed. Great selection on everything! We ate out locally; all the places were fantastic. We did go to Black Mountain Bistro twice!! We would absolutely stay here again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property! It is one of those places that is so thoughtfully put together, you genuinely feel like you are staying at a family member’s home. The rooms are charming and comfortable, all of the amenities as we needed (and more!) were easily found, the house and view are both gorgeous. It’s very obvious that the owners of this property put an exceptional amount of time, thought, and care into this home. Asheville and downtown Black Mountain are easily accessible, though the dirt road up to the property can take a little bit longer than you were anticipating. But the view and this utterly charming home are beyond worth it!
This house was perfect for our friends getaway!! The home is well equipped, gorgeous, and I can’t even explain how beautiful the view is of the water and mountains! Easy drive to downtown Black Mountain and Asheville. Worth every penny!
12 family members all met at the Wallace Mountain Lodge for 5 days. The property was perfect. We love to take turns preparing dinner for one another. The kitchen was perfect! It was well stocked with everything we needed! The views of Burnett Reservoir and surrounding mountains were stunning. We had visits from black bears every day with one cub coming onto the back deck. I highly recommend this property!
12 family members met here for 5 days. We had the 2 grand sons. Everyone was comfortable because this property is top notch! It has the best kitchen we have ever seen in a VRBO. The location is beautiful with stunning views. We enjoyed daily sightings of black bears. They came onto the back deck as well as climbed into the back of my truck! Just don’t leave any food out! Highly recommend this property!
This house had everything my friends and I wanted from our stay in Asheville. The view of the mountain range and small lake off the back deck was priceless. The interior has a beautifully spacious great room for dining together, lounging together and sitting around a large island to laugh and drink together. The bedrooms were large and had comfy beds. We loved it and would stay again. It is a bit of a drive to Asheville but we really didn’t mind. We had a fun afternoon eating and shopping in the quaint town of Black Mountain just 5-10 minutes away. I would also caution those who stay there to lock your car doors, we made the mistake of not doing that the first night and a hungry brown bear got some really good snacks out of it!! We did get to see her the next day and enjoyed the experience of seeing a bear in the wild, while safely watching inside!
Our party of 8 comfortably stayed at this beautiful Black Mountain rental home. It was clean, spacious, comfortable and had the most amazing view we have ever had at a rental home. It was stocked with more than enough kitchen utensils, pots, pans, dishes,etc... All of the bedrooms were lovely and had comfortable beds and also had amazing views. Black Mountain has shops, restaurants, hikes, and grocery shopping nearby. During our stay we also visited the nearby, cute town of Chimney Rock and the beautiful town of Asheville. We could not have asked for a nicer place to stay. If lucky enough, we hope to stay again someday. This home is highly recommended.
The road up to the home is steep but our Dodge Grand Caravan made it up the steep mountain just fine. A black bear visited the driveway each morning. Be sure to lock all your car doors.
The property was outstanding! It was very well appointed. Thoughtful owner with amenities. View was unbelievable! All the bedrooms were excellent. Outdoor space was perfect. 5/5 starts. Would come here again
We walked in and were in LOVE with the place. Rooms were perfect for the entire family. The kids enjoyed walking around exploring, adults enjoyed cooking and all the games. The kitchen was fully loaded! Loved everything about it. The shops were not too far out, we went to Biltmore as well.
Wallace Mountain Lodge was perfect for our large family! The 5 bedrooms and 4 baths accommodated our family of three adult kids, spouses and 3 grandkids, well. Beautifully decorated and well stocked for an active family with toys in a play area in the loft. The view was stunning from a big deck that was outfitted with plenty of outdoor seating. The experience at WML was exceptional.
Loved our stay, beautiful newly built home with an incredible view. It's quiet and away from neighbors out in the woods. About an 8 minute drive to Black Mountain and 30 mins from Asheville. I'd recommend having your own car. Getting rideshares is tricky from this area so plan accordingly but the place was worth it to us. The whole crew had a great time.
This is one of the nicest rentals I’ve ever stayed in. Comfortably slept our girls getaway trip to Asheville. The view is absolutely incredible. The house was STOCKED! The kitchen was brand new, had an impressive amount of spices, dishes etc. The rooms were tastefully decorated with comfy beds. We had the best time cooking, making a fire, and enjoying the local hikes. A must stay!!!
Wonderful, private home with awesome kitchen. Best stocked kitchen I have had in a rental property, ever. Fantastic views, but be aware that the 1.1mile dirt/gravel road up is steep. Had a family of black bears come through the parking area several times a day! Two great outdoor areas in addition to what you see in the photo - both covered for rainy days (we were there for the end of the June drought). Excellent sleeping accommodations. WiFi doesn't support Zoom calls so not a place to try and work remotely if that is needed. I tried the Starbucks in town and that wasn't great either. So don't work and enjoy the beauty of this place!
My family (5 adults, 1 toddler) spent a week here for a getaway week in June 2023. It's a fabulous, well appointed home, maybe the nicest kitchen I've ever had in a house this size. We like to cook together and had brought many baking dishes, spices, etc that would be needed and usually not found in rental properties. But I hardly touched my own as the house had it all, including a stand mixer. Views are amazing, outdoor spaces include two quiet seating areas in addition to the fire pit featured in the main photo. Bedrooms are cozy, very comfortable, nicely appointed. The open library area upstairs was a bonus room to get away and read, or let our toddler play with the toy selection (antique phone was an object of fascination!) and we kept the holiday-esque pine tree with bears on it lit the entire time. Speaking of bears - had a mama and 3 adorable cubs come by the front area every afternoon on their way to play, eat, run errands or whatever bears do. Good views from the kitchen windows. They played around the area below the back of the house too. A few things to know before you go: The drive in is 1.1 mile dirt and gravel steep hill. WiFi isn't usable for work (we all used phone hotspots for any decent connectivity) which seems to be in the entire area - I went to Starbucks for a Zoom meeting and that was not good either. So don't plan to stream your favorite shows, it's not going to work. But the views make it all worthwhile. There's also no fireplace.
