Comfortable & reasonably priced
I read some bad reviews about the hotel which seemed a bit unfair - the hotel is in need of a make over but clean and the bar area is lovely. We stayed in a room at the front of the hotel which was quiet, the room was clean and although could do with an update was comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, the car park although a bit chaotic was great given that parking in Beverley is very difficult. We would stay again.

Most unimpressed with this sad hotel
A very sad hotel in need of considerable TLC. Fabric in need of major refurb but of more concern was lack of cleanliness in dining room. Tables appeared not to have been cleaned for days, dirt on door to kitchen and on floor of snack preparation area next to bar. Complaint made on first day. No improvement on day 2. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone until considerable changes are made.

Let down
The hotel reception staff were lathargic and lazy. The room which was quite expensive for one night was very out dated with an appaling bathroom, including a dirty stained shower curtain. The sofa provided in the room was threadbare and stained as was the carpet. When I went to hand in my key I wished to complain about the state of the room however I had to leave as there was another guest infront of me who was complaining about how dirty and unpleasant his room had been and that he had got no sleep due to noise levels from other guests. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless there is some high standard refurbishment.

I feel this hotel like hundreds of others in the independent sector fail when looking at updating facilities. I have stayed here before and had a room in the newer part which at least has a lift. This time no lift up 2 florrs 5 flights of stairs. Room ok except the windows are falling out due to rot sureley a modern double glazed unit is not too much to ask.

Beverley Arms hotel Beverley
Breakfast was good but I had to bring to the attention of the staff that there was mouldy bread in the basket. They immediately removed all bread and replaced it with fresh. The service was very slow. Good location, lovely quaint hotel but rooms maybe a little tired. Overall we enjoyed our weekend and would probably use the hotel again when we are there for the races.

Everything was too much trouble in Beverley's Fawlty Towers
The most frequent phrase heard during our stay was "thats not my job". The welcome pack said nothing was too much trouble but even the most basic query was too much trouble. Our booking form incorrectly stated room only, receptionist snappily checked our booking and corrected the form without an apology. I queried the fact we were given a twin rather than a double, the response was "we don't have to give you a double". The room didn't have a hairdryer as it stated it would, when we asked for one the response was that isn't my job I will see what we can do. An hour later I gave up and went to our restaurant reservation with bad hair. The lift was out of order and they didn't check if people were capable of getting to their room, one woman had an asthma attack trying to get to the 4th floor. We also weren't told that there was a wedding on and that the disco would not finish till after midnight. Even with the windows closed on the 4th floor there was no chance of being able to sleep. If we had been warned of this we would have made a later reservation for dinner and stayed out. There may be tea making facilities but we had to move furniture to make a cuppa. The only plug socket s were near the door and too high to have the kettle on the floor or where the tv was plugged in behind the desk. You have a choice of moving a bedside table to near the door and so making any exit in an emergency hazardous or moving a rather large desk.

Overall hotel was clean and lobby/bar/garden areas very nice. Rooms could use some updating with new decor and upgraded bathrooms. Centrally located in the city center and easy walk to many local sites, restaurants and bars.
