Had to ask at reception next morning and they gave us the code - not sure why they don’t just provide it? Our hotel window overlooked the main road, which had no cars on it so it was nice and quiet. Just around the hotel were wonderful restaurants, a five minute walk to the bear pit and just down the road from the rose garden where we went to see the sunset. we ate at a Thai restaurant next-door and then went for fondue just up the road. The view of Old Town from the windows was so beautiful, and most mornings i sat in the windowsill with a cup of tea simply enjoying the view and the fresh air. The staff were all incredibly kind, helpful, and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. There were lots of amenities in the room like tea and coffee, as well as some fresh fruit when we arrived! We even received tickets to use for the busses during our stay in Bern, which was generous and totally unexpected! I couldn’t possibly recommend it highly enough. It’s right nearby dozens of amazing restaurants and sightseeing locations, as well as lots of shopping and night life. It’s literally 3- 10 min walk from all sightseeing attractions. Room was a very good size and clean. Hotel is very dated. Reception only works till 6 pm so late arrival needs to be arranged in advance and I almost missed it. Staff is very nice. There is no air conditioner. It’s a cold spring in Switzerland and opening the windows and being that it’s off season with little noise from the street solved it for me but during the summer it would have been a problem.
