We had easy walking distance to museums, music halls, pubs, and City Hall. It was extremely well equipped and perfect for a short stay. There is a Tesco just around the corner to pick up supplies and The Chilli House on the main road is a great chinese and you can take a bottle of wine or beers from Tesco in with you.
