The hotel has a spectacular position overlooking the river and historical centre of Porto. Service was excellent and not overbearing. Breakfast and dining generally were high quality. The outside pool area is lovely. You can walk down to the river direct from the hotel, where there are a lot of bars and restaurants - it is however quite a steep path, so perhaps not suitable for all. Thoroughly recommended.

We have just returned from a very pleasant stay at this lovely hotel. The staff were excellent, very friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and catered for a lot of tastes. The hotel was very well located for an easy walk into the old town. Plenty of nice restaurants to try nearby. We would not hesitate to recommend the Pousada de Viseu and hope to return ourselves one day.

Beautiful former palace, we arrived early (11.00) expecting to just leave our luggage but the reception staff checked and our room was ready. We were treat to a glass of port in the lounge (hall of mirrors) and then shown to our room with explanations of where all the facilities were located and how things worked in the room. Staff really friendly and seem to want you to enjoy your stay. Concierge had great restaurant recommendations and was able to get us tables. Barman was great. Interconnecting room perfect for families and spacious. Would definitely visit again.

Location and size of Hotel fantastic for centre of Coimbra. Walking in the gardens you wouldn't believe you were so close to the city centre. Staff were excellent and very attentive.

An excellent stay in an ideal location. The room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. There was a great choice at breakfast and well presented. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. No hesitation in highly recommending the accommodation.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Palacio da Lousa. Our room was big and spacious , the breakfast was comprehensive and catered for all tastes, there is good free parking at the back of the hotel and we had an excellent evening meal one night.

A bit of a climb or a few euro taxi journey from Penafiel's town centre, the Park provides very comfortable rooms – with bathtubs, WiFi and smart furnishings. Staff extremely friendly but a little slow – took them ages to look for (and not find) a map of Penafiel, explain things, etc. Spa consisted of two saunas, dry and wet, both quite large, and a nice-sized jacuzzi.
