I cannot stress that enough. This hotel moved us around multiple times to different locations within the same hotel. at one point they took us to a new room that required walking a long distance outside in the snow and ice. When we arrived it was the wrong room and was dirty. At this time it was 5 am and we did not want to move rooms again. We agreed to stay until the snow stopped. During this time we did not sleep just researched new hotels. From only sitting on the bed we got bedbugs. I called hotels.com and they’re customer service said we would be refunded due to these events. At 9:30am when the ice had stopped we attempted to leave and go to our new hotel. The hotel staff stopped is and informed us that because hotels.com was providing a refund due to poor service, and we had stayed for a few hours and would now need to pay again for our stay. I attempted to call hotels.com and went back and forth for over 6 hours. We missed our tours and lost an entire day in Beijing as the hotel would not let us leave until we payed again. They threatened to call the police multiple times. There was a language barrier and it was very difficult to communicate what had happened. Hotels.com was of no help during this time. I was on the phone with hotels.com for a total of 307 minutes. please please do not even try to stay here and have the same terrible experience we had. Also, we had to sleep in the first night with open window (despite temperature of - 6oC outside) due to smoking odor (despite the property claims to be no smoking environment). Also, there were just 2 towels at the bathroom. These three points were corrected for the second and third night. One problem is that the reception is on the 9th Floor, and to go there it is needed a key to release the elevator. So, the bellman has to call the reception and someone should go down to take us to the 9th Floor, what takes some time. Command of English of reception desk clerks was very limited. The property is well located, close to a metro station and at walking distance to the heart of Wangfuging Street (20 minutes) and Forbidden City (30 minutes).
