For budget and basic stays
The hotel is not far from Dongsi Shitiao Line 2 which is a ring, then you may connect to Line 1 for tourist attraction places like Wangfuching, Tianenman and Qianmen street. But be careful not to confuse this station with Dongsi station on your metro map. They are completely different.
The hotel itself is a big and old building. I choose the cheapest available room which is on the basement floor, there is no windows on these rooms, which cause stinks from the bathroom. Apart from that, the rooms are worn out, cleanliness is an issue and not their priority. The wifi in the room sometimes works ok, sometimes it deconnects. If you are lucky, you may get a good wifi signal. During my last time, the router of my room was broken down. This time I was lucky and had good connection. And on the basement floor, my China Unicom simcard didn't receive any 3g/4g signals.
This hotel is not aimed for international tourists, I only saw local peoples as hotel guests. And the area of the hotel is not also a tourist attractions places.
Even the front desk people doesn't have an English knowledge, they are helpful and try to find a solution. The reason I choose Qinglan is, my first option hotel in Qianmen st canceled my reservation twice.
This is a hard place to find a taxi and the front desk also doesn't help much to call a taxi for you. So, if you have a flight to catch at Beijing airport, you had be better to check out early and do the job by yourself.
They put us on the streets, they treat us very bad and they were forcing us to cancel our reservation and those people dont deserve to be promoted by Expedia

Stuff working slow and rude. When I called to ask for one more towel they said they can only provide two because there are only two beds in the room. We can only exchange one with another new one

Generally ok to good
We stayed in the basement, so it was cooler (August) but also more damp. The room was clean but, as mentioned, felt a bit damp. The AC worked but seemed to be set to a limited temperature. There was a fridge in the room which was very helpful. Housekeeping came into the room to throw out trash and supply shampoo/soap even if we said we didn't need any service for the day, almost mother-like tbh. Location worked for us as it was in between salitun and forbidden city, etc attractions, although all still a 30+ minute walk away. Taxis were not hard to get, although the hotel won't call one for you, you'll have to call or hail one yourself. Overall not bad, ok to good, budget friendly stay.

Disliked: Room comfort
Quite ok hotel for Chinese standards but definitely no European 3 stars.
Probably high standard in the 80s but little maintainance since that time.
Staff is friendly but doesn‘t speak English so don‘t expect them to be of any help if you want to organize citytrips or whatsoever
no free wifi (even at the lobby)
no complimentary drinks
slightly dirty room and bathroom
clerks don't speak English AT ALL and seemed quite annoyed when I asked a few questions about the hotel services.
my room was located at the basement and had no windows.
ONLY THING I LIKED: hotel is located quite near the subway station.

Special priced room maybe at basement
Didn't realize my room was placed in basement. Not bad tho, as cooler air underground, and same size of rooms.
