Truth be told, we stayed in some pretty rough dives in Henan Province mostly with cigarette burned carpets and telephone calls from hotel hookers. Many of the staff spoke English well but even those who didn't were very welcoming and friendly. The room was luxurious enough compared to most what I have experienced in China.
