The living quarters are on the second floor of the Carriage House and require 13 steps. This charming waterfront carriage house on lady’s island overlooking factory creek, is on a one acre beautifully landscaped property, minutes from downtown Beaufort and the low country sea islands. There is a 150’ walkway, pier house, and floating dock for fishing. The waterfront view of a 2000-acre marsh, rivers, and creeks is spectacular. Beaufort is a historic southern town surrounded by sea islands. The intra-coastal waterway, the Atlantic Ocean and a myriad of rivers and creeks wrap the islands with sunrises and sunsets unlike any other. It was named “best small southern town” by southern living, “southern dream town” by Garden & Gun, “6 terrific towns on the water” by money magazine, and “American's happiest town” by coastal living magazine. Beaufort is an ideal vacation area, located just 12 miles from the ocean at Hunting Island, an hour from Hilton Head, Savannah, and Charleston. Its treasured coast includes the historic towns of Port Royal, Beaufort and Bluffton as well as Hilton Head Island. It is also made up of numerous smaller islands rich with the history and heritage of both the revolutionary and civil wars. This carriage house exceeded our expectations. The owners were lovely and available to answer our questions promptly. They are very knowledgeable about the area. The carriage house had everything we could possibly need (and more). It was clean and spacious. Our favorite spot was the breakfast nook. Perfect for drinking morning coffee as the sun rose. If you stay, make sure you plan a sunset on the dock. It’s stunning. There is so much to do in this area. The property was very comfortable and well maintained, all amenities were provided and in good working condition. The property manager was friendly and accommodating. He and his wife gave us privacy and let us make the most of enjoying the sunset views from their dock. It was a great getaway for us. We love the area and hope to get back to the Lowcountry soon. The location worked for us because we wanted to be near downtown Beaufort (but not IN it), and also near the grocery store and nature walks---a beach view was not a priority for us, though this has a lovely slice of the waterway from the dining room table. The hosts, Dan and Bobbie, are absolutely the best--thoughtful and attentive. We loved it so much, we will return next year. We could not have been happier! ##### Johanna K. We’d been to Beaufort before, but were looking for a more “like home” experience. Dan’s carriage apartment was perfect! Spacious living area, well equipped kitchen, quiet bedroom, generous bath and full-sized laundry. Plus, not just a view of the river, but a welcome invitation to venture out to the gazebo on the dock for cocktails while watching the sunset. Dan is friendly and knowledgeable about Beaufort, it’s history, places to go, and things not to be missed. The location is serene, but close to downtown.
