Bayerisch Gmain isn't the only place in Upper Bavaria worth experiencing; those with enough time can also set out to see the unique qualities of the nearby scenery, towns and cities. Ramsau bei Berchtesgaden, lies approximately 8 miles (13 kilometers) to the north. Go there to visit the Hintersee and Goetschen Ski-Center.
Ruhpolding is approximately 12 miles (19 kilometers) from Bayerisch Gmain. This regional center contains a number of interesting attractions, such as Barthlomaus Schmucker Heritage Museum, Unternberg Ruhpolding and Ruhpolding Amusement Park. Vita Alpina, Golf Club Ruhpolding and Church of Saint George are just a few of the other interesting attractions in Ruhpolding.
Venture back into the past while you are staying in Upper Bavaria. Take a trip to some of the historic palaces for which this part of the world is famous. If you're looking for indoor entertainment, it's hard to go past Upper Bavaria's excellent art galleries, nature museums and art museums. These are ideal places to learn about the region's culture and perhaps pick up an unusual souvenir or two.
