Like a resort hotel

With spa and swimming pool. Room is spacious. Good facilities. The only drawback is not within walking distance to city centre.

Great hotel... But don't bother with the food.

Posted 17-Aug-2015
To keep it short, everything was great... staff were brilliant, especially Tim (the concierge). As part of your booking you are entitled to a free breakfast and that's where it all goes wrong. The food was so basic, in fact it was awful. I know it's free , however if you claim to be a 5* establishment, then a breakfast like that should never be served to your customers. If you like your food then you have so many choices in Bath.

Just fabulous!

Posted 13-Aug-2015
Pros: Clean, friendly, beautiful.
Cons: The outdoor pool surround is not the prettiest, but this is really nit picking.
Location: Parking on site and walking distance to Roman Baths, Pump Rooms, Sally Lunn tea shop and bus station.
A stunning hotel with exceptional staff, who really couldn't do enough for us. Spa was lovely and not too busy. Just a 5 minute walk into the main town centre, but beautifully peaceful in the hotel itself. Food was amazing. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. I'll be going back!

Pros: Room was good, well equipped. Comfy beds with lovely pillows. Good toiletries. Quiet location.
Cons: Nothing, really.
Location: Easy access to the town for eating out and shopping (once you find your way around). 1/2 hour or so from Longleat.
Good rates found on line, as compared with budget hotels.

Great spa facilities & lovely spacious rooms.

The hotel's facilities are very good and the gym and spa are great. We had a very relaxing time during our stay - although we needed it after the delay in checking in!

Beautiful hotel in walking distance of Bath.

Posted 09-Aug-2015
Pros: The best thing about the hotel has to be the staff. Everyone was polite, helpful, held eye contact and genuinely seemed to care about us.
Cons: The outdoor furniture was a little weathered and tired.
Location: The location was excellent. We love Bath and the fact that this hotel was within a 10 min lovely walk made it even better.
My husband and I spent one night at the hotel for a romantic getaway. It was very busy in reception on arrival but the staff were efficient and giving their best to all the guests. Our room was pretty basic but for just one night it was fine. The hotel was pretty to walk around and the gardens were beautiful. Loved walking into Bath too as so close. We enjoyed the spa facilities and the outdoor pool was sublime! We relaxed on the sun loungers after in the glorious sunshine. The extra special touch that made our stay perfect was the staff. From the reception to the concierge to the waiting staff - spot on! We'll definitely be back. Thank you!

Expensive and not worth the money

Posted 04-Aug-2015
Pros: The rooms were beautiful
Cons: Food, noise, staff attentiveness, spa services for hotel guest, price
Location: 10 min from down town, great location
Real quick the highlights and lowlights Highlights: beautiful grounds, immaculately clean, wonderful room exquisite bathrooms, lovely pool, location Lowlights: drunks at 2AM outside our window, the food was not cooked well, expensive, the front desk yawned when I called to complain, no spa services available due to over bookings by non hotel guests, breakfast was nice but not worth the money Would I stay here again......no way, say your money stay at the Hilton and order a spa service to your room, you'll save $458!

Dear Dr Ralph, Thank you for taking the time and trouble to submit a review following your stay at the Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel. It was really pleasing to read that you thought the highlights of your stay included our beautiful rooms and grounds, exquisite bathrooms and that we had a lovely pool. Delivering the highest standards of service to all our guests is at the heart of our core values and I would always welcome your feedback where you feel that this has not been the case. I am sorry that you encountered some lowlights during your stay and that you were disturbed by loud guests underneath your window, we do requests that all guests are mindful of other guests especially after midnight, I am sorry if you thought that the front desk were not responsive to your issues and I am also sorry that you thought the food was expensive and not well cooked. I have spoken with our Night and Front of House Manager and Head Chef who would like to join me in sincerely offering their apologies for this shortcoming. I do hope that you will reconsider staying with us and we look forward to having the opportunity of welcoming you back to the Bath Spa Hotel again. Best wishes and kind regards, Mohamed

Beautiful property, wonderful city

Posted 08-Jul-2015
Pros: Excellent service at front desk and concierge. Beautiful grounds.
Cons: Currently undergoing renovations, which started a bit early in the morning for our taste. Just unfortunate timing for the visit on our part.
Location: Visit the city of Bath, a World Heritage Cultural Site. Loved the free walking tour put on by the Mayor's Guild.
Room is typical of what you would expect at a nice hotel/spa. Bathroom was outfitted beautifully. Broken light in the closet was disappointing. Door to patio (approx. 18"x36") was wonderful because we could open for fresh air, standing outside, viewing the exquisite grounds of the property. Loved walking around, as well as the nearby neighborhoods and Sydney Garden park. Just wish it was a little closer to downtown.
