The Hotel Rochat was a great place to stay. It is right by the downtown and in a quiet part of town. The room was clean and big even by US/ Canadian standards. Bathroom had good water pressure and lots of hot water. We were in Basel for a 2 night-night stay and just scratched the surface as to what this city has to offer. I would have no hesitation about staying here again. We did not use the breakfast option but coffee and tea were available from 11am - 9pm.

The staff was exceptional, getting us into our rooms early and helping with my phone issue. The breakfast was way above expectations. The room was very clean and the only sound we heard was the ringing of the bells on Ash Wednesday from the church next door. Short walk to catch the #3 tram. Would highly recommend.

The room contained a sofa bed, a chair bed and a king size bed. All were very comfortable beds with great bed linens. The bathroom felt very contemporary and contained a double shower. The bath towels were very white, fluffy, absorbent and large. A bath towel, hand towel and face cloth were provided for each of us. The staff was extremely helpful and the breakfast was very satisfying.

The room was fine, the front desk service was very good, and breakfast was perfect. It is a solidly good hotel, and if you don't mind a few stairs you will not have any problems with it.

Perfect location and fantastic staff
The hotel is located in a lovely neighbourhood, surrounded by lots of little cafes and antique shops and just around the corner from the spalentor and botanic garden. As it’s a hotel they give you a Basel pass which entitles you to free travel and half price entry to most of the museums and attractions. The hotel staff are very friendly and welcoming (I think we spoke to Kristina who was amazing) and the room has air conditioning, a must in the current heatwave. The room was clean and the linen seemed brand new. Great views from the room window too.

Booked this last minute as plans had to change. Picked this based on reviews and wow, from the minute I stepped in the door I was thrilled. Staff were SO friendly (that goes for every person I interacted with over the course of my stay). Booked a single and it was the largest single I’ve ever stayed in!! Clean, safe, and a fantastic location - so central. Next time I’m in Basel I am staying here. Seriously 10/10 the perfect experience.

The hotel is in an excellent location in Basel, it is very clean, staff are fantastic and the breakfast was superb. There are no tea and coffee facilities in the room, but they are available in the central dining area. Transportation links are also a stones throw away, incredibly efficient and free to hotel guests as they provide a pass for you! I would not hesitate to book this hotel again.

We were really looking forward to a 1 night stay prior to joining a river cruise, but it fell short of expectations based on rave rating on hotels.com website. Our room was in the annex at the rear of the hotel in a separate building. Getting there with 2 large suitcases was a nightmare involving 2 separate lifts and steps that were unavoidable even with the use of 2 lifts! Once in the room, we were overwhelmed by a strong musty smell - it was awful. So back all the way to the main building reception to complain. We were allocated another room which didn't smell. It was ok. Pretty bland and poorly lit and soulless. The shower was over a bath. I found it very high and difficult to get in and out. There was no facility for making hot drinks in the room, so back to reception again to get some hot water. The reception staff were very helpful. Maybe rooms in the original part of the building are better, but I wouldn't recommend a room in the annex.

The rooms are spacious and excellent air conditioning. Bathroom was modern with a rain shower head! Staff was incredibly helpful with logistics and transportation. Nice breakfast spread to accommodate all diets. Absolutely great location!
