Come to Playa de Barra Vieja for an Acapulco beach experience without the metropolitan backdrop. Located about an hour south of the city, it feels like another world. Go horseback riding along the beach or enjoy a feast of fresh seafood.
Take a leisurely stroll along the ocean and enjoy sweeping views across the Pacific Ocean. Set up a beach chair and lie back in Mexico’s warm, sunny weather. A few hotels are located between the beach and Acapulco International Airport. Find a much larger selection of amenities farther north closer to Acapulco, from luxury accommodation to hotels with thumping nightclubs. However, Playa de Barra Vieja is a nice escape from the hustle and bustle, offering a tranquil and natural beach experience.
Drive south from Acapulco along the coastline to reach Playa de Barra Vieja. It is about 36 miles (58 kilometres) outside of the centre of the city of Acapulco. Conveniently reach Acapulco International Airport in about 20 minutes. This proximity makes Playa de Barra Vieja a great first or last stop on your Acapulco agenda.
